VENT I wanted to punch someone

We brought the kids to Toys R Us to make a wish list for their birthday. We come back to the car and I smell pot smoke... really strong pot smoke. I look over and. someone pulled up next to our car (in a black car with heavily tinted windows... like that is supposed to hide what they are doing?) and was smoking in it. The smell was so strong that I felt like I got punched in the face with it. I loaded the kids from the other side of the car and yelled at the guy that he was an a-hole. DH wouldn't let me flag down the PD car I saw in the parking lot. Seriously... who goes to a parking lot of a toy store to smoke pot? At least pull up next to a car that doesn't have car seats in it. Sheeeesh!

People are CRAZY!  This guy REEKED of pot at Pump it UP a few weeks back!!!!  And he was there with his kid!  I was horrified!

DH is non-confrontational. I wasn't asking him to confront the stoner, just flag down the police officer. I think that is what is wrong with the culture in large cities... too many people are afraid to speak up.

I have to disagree. I am against driving under the influance of any drug (pot inculded). I don't see why smoking pot and then being around your kid is any different than smoking and then being arround your kid. I am sure this is a VERY un-popular opinion but I don't see the big deal.

I wanted to add that I agree with you. I would have flagged down the officer, only because I am so against driving under the influance.

It wasn't then... it was actively smoking pot next to my kids (as in the joint was still lit in the guy's hands... tinted windows don't hide that). I grew up in Santa Cruz (so I've been exposed to stoners and pot smokers my whole life) and I would have agreed with you 20 years ago but the pot of today is not the pot of 20 years ago. It isn't a faint smell. It's a pungent punch in the face. Just like I don't think it is appropriate for smokers to smoke at the entrance of stores and restaurants because of the impact, I think it is highly inappropriate to not only smoke but smoke illegal substance in a place where small children frequent.

 I've got the leftover hippy attitude. Do whatever you want as long as it doesn't impact anyone else. I'm sorry but smoking next to kids doesn't follow that rule so it's not cool.

Totally agree.... I'm not sure why some dude would prefer to smoke near a kids store anyways unless he enjoys sitting in his car and watching children walk by. Total perv in my book

i dont approve either, drives me nuts to see people smoking out at playgrounds. and i see this all.the.time.
