Rash with Thirsties

I sold all my Thirstie duo diapers because I didn't like the MF and am just a big fan of Elementals. DS has been wearing Elementals to bed but he poops every night (and its not ploppable by morning) so cleaning the Elementals is a pita with all the layers.  So I just bought 3 Thirsties again for nighttime.  

The biggest reason I got rid of them was because DS always seemed to get this ammonia burn type rash in them.  Just very red and warm around the whole diaper area but not yeast.  We haven't had it at all with the Elementals.  We do use a fleece liner with the Elementals because I use cream with the overnight pooping.  I since switched to RnG and using AFFF instead of MF but this morning he had the redness again.  I used the MF last night. I haven't used a fleece liner (used CJ's) because they are fleece correct?  Could he have a reaction to that particular type of fleece?  I added a fleece liner with the reg diaper cream tonight and will see how it goes but its just weird that he only gets this with the Thirsties. Could he be super sensitive?  Thinking back I can't remember if he got a rash with our small stint of fitteds and wool.

Could it be the PUL/fit of the thirsties that it's not allowing his skin to breathe at all and that's why it doesn't matter what insert you have?

Possibly...thats a good thought.  They do fit a little snugger which is another reason I liked them with the gussets for his pooplosions in the morning so maybe they fit too snug??
