Telling the office and the annual review dilemma.

I have finally talked myself off the ledge- but I was a little stressed earlier. My one year review was supposed to be tomorrow and it just got pushed back to May 26th because of time constraints.

I was hoping to wait to tell my office until after my review (and hopefully raise) is finalized. I'm due November 9th- which puts me out of the office at the hardest time of year. I'm the only one who can do my job- and it's really hard to train someone, especially for a temporary position. I have awesome coworkers, but I know this puts them in a difficult position. I'm really anxious about how they will react- but I have to put my family first. 

Yesterday I got my first "are you pregnant?" question at work. I started my pregnancy pretty thin. I'm still in the in-between stage where I think I just look a little fluffier, but it's clear I can't hold out until after my review. So, it makes sense that full disclosure as soon as possible will put me in a better position and will likely soften the blow for my boss. 

Tomorrow is my sequential screen, and if the scan looks good I'll tell my boss on Thursday (we have a standing meeting). I feel good about this pregnancy right now, but the act of telling is causing a bit of anxiety! I wish I could just tell them when the baby is born!

I completely sympathize with you.  It's hard telling work, especially when reviews are coming up.  I struggled with this as well.  finally I just decided that if my review and raise are really going to be dependent on the fact that I'm pregnant, then maybe that isn't the kind of place I want to work anyways.  Luckily it all went very well and everyone is extremely happy for me!

Oh, hun, I hope that this doesn't get you stressed.  That is a huge let down your review is getting pushed back an entire month.  You are right, it can't be hidden that much longer.

I hope that it all works out and I wish you lots of luck when you do decide to inform your boss and the rest of work.

I will definitely be thinking about you tomorrow when you start your sequential screen.  I am doing the same thing and had my scan and first round of bloodwork done on Monday.  Sending you some well wishes and prayers for many things in your life this week!
