  • 1. What does your husband do for a living? IT nerd
    2. If he is a college grad, does he use his degree in his line of work? not even close!
    3. What is one thing YOU love about HIS job? He loves his job and it is very fulfilling for him.  That makes me happy!
    4. What is one thing you don't love about his job? He is constantly bombarding me with his nerdy IT talk and jargon.  My eyes glaze over quickly when he starts talking about work.
    5. How long is his commute? 15 mins
    6. Does he dress up for work? yep (well, I consider it dressing up), slacks, button down shirts, sweaters. only jeans on Fridays.
    7. If you had to be him for a day, could you do his job? God no!
    8. Do you think he could handle being a SAH dad? No.  He'd go crazy...and the house would be an effing disaster!
    9. What is his dream job? He is really digging the project management side of his job, so I think he'd like to eventually go into that.
    10. What's a random skill he has learned in the working world? Hmm, nothing I can think of at the moment.
BONUS: What is the best perk you have gotten from your husband's job? It was at his old job actually, he had a really flexible schedule/hours and he was able to come to every single appt. with me when I was pregnant and he came home for lunch every day when I was on bedrest.  It was awesome and we're both so glad he was there for all of it.

  • 1. What does your husband do for a living? He's a sports editor.
    2. If he is a college grad, does he use his degree in his line of work? Yep. He has a B.A. Communication with emphasis in journalism.
    3. What is one thing YOU love about HIS job? That he LOVES what he does. He is incredibly passionate about journalism.
    4. What is one thing you don't love about his job? The long hours. During high-school football season, he's not home until 11 on most Friday nights.
    5. How long is his commute? 45 minutes and a bridge.
    6. Does he dress up for work? Polo and khakis, pretty much every day. Sometimes I force him to wear a sweater (i.e. you look stupid in a short-sleeved polo when it's snowing) and then he comes home and complains that he was sooooo hot all day.
    7. If you had to be him for a day, could you do his job? Of course. I DO do his job -- we're both journalists.
    8. Do you think he could handle being a SAH dad? He already takes care of Collin when I have evening stuff to cover. But if we're talking about ALL DAY, every day, I think he COULD do it, but I would have to turn a blind eye to the fact that Collin's clothes would never match, they would eat paninis for all three meals five days a week and the house would be a disaster.
    9. What is his dream job? Covering WSU athletics full time. He does it part time now, and LOVES it.
    10. What's a random skill he has learned in the working world? The man knows everything about sports. When I cover any high school that he has, I don't even have to look up the coaches or their records; he just knows them.
BONUS: What is the best perk you have gotten from your husband's job? Diamond Club seats at Safeco Field in 2006, courtesy of his publisher. That being said, perhaps if said publisher had spent less on his hobbies and more on his newspaper, it wouldn't have gone under.

  • I'm probably not eligible to respond to this poll given my hubby's current employment status, but I will any how Stick out tongue

    1. What does your husband do for a living?  Unemployed pipefitter turned SAHD.  He has been home for just over 2 years since Jillian was 4 months old.
    2. If he is a college grad, does he use his degree in his line of work? n/a
    3. What is one thing YOU love about HIS job?  I can leave the house in the morning without taking care of getting anybody ready but me.  He can send me funny pictures and videos of the girls while I'm at work.  He is an awesome Dad.
    4. What is one thing you don't love about his job?  I need a housecleaner more than ever because everybody is home messing up the place all day long.  But I can't afford it on a regular basis because it's just my income coming in.
    5. How long is his commute?  15 seconds to the living room
    6. Does he dress up for work?  Yesterday he was in sweats all day long.  But it's not like he dressed up as a pipefitter either.  However, being a SAHD doesn't require steel toed boots though...well usually it doesn't.
    7. If you had to be him for a day, could you do his job?  Sure thing.  I called my maternity leave with Hayden his maternity leave because I was taking care of the kids while he was busy working on "projects".  Going back to work felt like a break...
    8. Do you think he could handle being a SAH dad?  Well apparently he can
    9. What is his dream job?  No job.  And a nanny.
    10. What's a random skill he has learned in the working world?  How to keep children entertained in a garage.
BONUS: What is the best perk you have gotten from your husband's job?  Some very happy little girls.

  • 1. What does your husband do for a living? He's the Financial Aid Director at a small Christian College
    2. If he is a college grad, does he use his degree in his line of work? Not really.
    3. What is one thing YOU love about HIS job? He doesn't travel much anymore
    4. What is one thing you don't love about his job? He doesn't always leave right at five when he's supposed to be off. He'll leave sometimes at 5:30, sometimes 6:00 depending on when students show up at his office.
    5. How long is his commute? 10-20 minutes depending on whether you hit the lights at the right time.
    6. Does he dress up for work? Yes
    7. If you had to be him for a day, could you do his job? Nope. Probably not. I could answer phones and sit in meetings, but I'm pretty sure that I'd screw up some numbers pretty bad. :-)
    8. Do you think he could handle being a SAH dad? Yes and no. I think he'd realize it's not as easy to stay home 24/7 as he thinks.
    9. What is his dream job? I think eventually he'd like to get back into ministry, but right now, he's working at a place he really loves.
    10. What's a random skill he has learned in the working world? How to deal with pushy and/or super annoying parents and students. He can handle people that most people would try to pass off to someone else.
BONUS: What is the best perk you have gotten from your husband's job? um... I guess that because it's a small school, everyone knows us and has always been super kind and caring.

  • 1. What does your husband do for a living?  Certified Industrial Hygienist
    2. If he is a college grad, does he use his degree in his line of work?  Somewhat- his degree is in chemical engineering and he does use it with labwork and some chemical interactions.
    3. What is one thing YOU love about HIS job?  His coworkers are supportive of his personal goals, esp since getting married and TTC.  He's told them more than I've told my parents and they gush over me/us, at group events.
    4. What is one thing you don't love about his job?  His hours!  It's actually been the cause of several heated discussions over the last month or so.  I wish he had a 9-5 office job (though he would hate that!), but it's a little less predictable.
    5. How long is his commute?  If he's going to the office, it's 40-60 mins to drive into Seattle.  But he's often in the field, which can be anywhere in WA (mostly western WA), so it really depends.
    6. Does he dress up for work?  Typically, no, he wears a work polo and jeans.  Now and then he has to dress up for a meeting or industry dinner.
    7. If you had to be him for a day, could you do his job?  Not a chance
    8. Do you think he could handle being a SAH dad? I don't think so. :-)  He might enjoy it for a short term, but he goes nuts doing the same thing every day (which is why he prefers field work over office work).  He'll enjoy taking care of our child in smaller doses, but I think he'd get bored or frustrated if he did it 24/7.
    9. What is his dream job?  Retired, wealthy philanthropist - He talks about it all the time when he dreams of winning the lottery.
    10. What's a random skill he has learned in the working world?  Socializing with random people.  His group of friends hasn't changed since his late teens/20's (20+ years), but he can't always predict how new people will act.
BONUS: What is the best perk you have gotten from your husband's job?  Making ends meet while I've been unemployed, and the chance to be a SAHM, when baby is here.
