Speaking of gyms... gym watching kids while you work out?

Okay, I tried this today at the Y and one kid was okay with it and the other one melted down after 10 minutes. Any tips on how to work out for more than 10 minutes or acclimate your kids to a new environment?

They were in daycare before so I wasn't expecting this reaction and sometimes either my mom or DH's mom will watch the kids so it isn't like they've never been away from me.

Anyone ever go through this? Stories? Tips? Advice? The Y has a 30 day money back policy. I'm ready to take advantage of it but I'd rather get a chance to work out. Help!

  • I brought Eloise's lovey with her for the first few times and I talked up all the cool toys they had there before going in to give her a bit of a warning.  I also told her about something fun we were going to do when I was done working out.  It took a few weeks but she likes going now.  Good luck!

  • I would just continue to go. Maybe when the meltdown starts, sit with the little one for a few and then go work out some more. Hopefully the time will start to get longer. I took dd#1 since she was really little so she didn't know much else. Plus we would always get a jamba after.
