Trouble TTC

Baseline ultrasound today....thick lining?

Hey ladies, so I had my baseline ultrasound today (CD 4).  No cysts (yay!) but the ultrasound lady kept mumbling about how thick my lining was.  I was laying there thinking, "duh, of course it's thick, I'm still bleeding.  And besides, don't you want thick lining?"

Well, then I go to get my blood drawn and they tell me they are concerned with how thick it was.  They didn't give me an actual number of how thick it was but said to expect more bleeding.  Then they told me they wanted to do a pregnancy blood test to make sure I wasn't pregnant.  I just got the call and my HCG was negative and they are letting me start round 2 of clomid.  Just wondering if anyone else ran into this?  They are going to talk to the doctor and call me back if he's concerned.  I'm sure it's nothing, just totally unexpected this morning!  I go in thinking they are just going to check for cysts...I had no idea about the lining part!

To top it off, I'm getting sick!  My sinuses are killing me!  Is it ok to take sudafed?  I just took two pills without even thinking.  I don't start the clomid till tomorrow....I'll ask the doctor then.  Just wondering.....thanks!

Re: Baseline ultrasound today....thick lining?

  • I would think a think lining would be good also.  Hopefully you won't hear back from them because it isn't a big deal.  As for the sickness, I got sick right before my first IUI.  I was so scared to take anything because I didn't want that to be the cause of it not working.  When I called the RE, he said that I can take anything up until they confirm pregnancy.  They said that cold meds will not effect the outcome at all.  Hope you feel better soon!

  • This seems really strange to me. When I went in for my second ultrasound for IVF, she said my lining was "nice and thick" indicating that a thick lining is a good thing. I've always been under that impression as well.

  • Maybe the u/s tech was frustrated because things are sometimes easier to see with a thinner lining?

  • Yeah, I thought you were supposed to have good lining for the cycle too.  Oh well, I'll just go with it.
