blood work

this will be my first baby and was just wanting to know when you all had blood work done? I will be going the 28th for 10 week appt and havent had any done yet. I know my dr knows best but i have heard some ppl say if you havent already done blood work you want but i thought you needed to. Just checking to see maybe should i ask ( but i hate needles and want be sad if i dont) the dr but i know she knows whats going on and i dont! TIA

My doctor does blood draws at the first appointment.  If the doctor wants to run blood work, they will let you know.

Dont worry, I didn't get mine done till 11 weeks and 2 days because i couldn't find a doctor I liked. I believe as long as you get it done before the second trimester your good!

My Doctor does the blood work at the first appointment. My doctor did not to HCG levels this time because she didnt think there was a reason to.
With my son they did the HCG levels because the positive line on the pregnancy test was so faint.

I had mine done my first appt at 6 weeks. thats weird you havent had any drawn yet.

They waited and did my all blood draws (6 vials) all at the same time so it would coincide with my NT scan. For the NT scan, the blood has to be taken after Week 9 and at least 4 days prior to the scan being done which is between Weeks 11 and 13. From what I read here most Ladies get theirs done at first appointments, so I think my Doc was just trying to prevent me having to take multiple trips to the clinic to be stuck :-)  Just ask your Doctor at your visit but I would be about 100% that he'll give you the requisition forms this time.

My MW is having everything drawn when I go in for the 1st part of my sequential screening between 10-12 weeks. Nothing is emergent, so you should be fine. You'll find out your provider's preference at your appt.
