Anyone on Premetrium? OR has been? Experiences??

Hi All-

Went in for Bloodwork the first set was: HCG 150.9 & Progesterone was 19.24

Second set of Bloodwork was: HCG 391.4 & Progesterone was 16.

I had a m/c in January, and the doctor called me after my second set of blood work and told me that she would like to put me on Progesterone. I researched this drug a lot and it has a lot of side effects.

 What do you think of my Progesterone level is it that bad?... Have any of you been prescribed Premetrium?? I'm on Oral Premetrium 200 mg tablets twice per day. Have any of you had children when having problems with Progesterone levels?.. Sorry Im so full of questions, but it'd be so nice to hear that others are on this, or have had LO's with this. My first pregnancy ended in m/c, this is my second pregnancy.

Happy Easter!  That progesterone is fine.  Dr. Google says 9-47 is good, my RE wants anything above 12.  Mine was 11 a couple of weeks ago for one b/w, so RE put me on 100mg Prometrium 2x per day, I can take it orally, but I take it vag because of m/s and side effects.  Hope this is your sticky LO!  H&H!

ETA: I took Prometrium with my last pg too.

My prog level in the beginning of this pg was at 29 and my dr put me on prometrium (intravaginally) anyway, due to history of loss. It can't hurt.

I didn't have any side effects, although it may have contributed to my m/s (although it wasn't bad at all).

I would take it as your dr ordered you to, regardless of what Dr. Google says.

My progesterone level was 18.9, and the doctor put me on Prometrium suppositories since I was below 20.  I took them vaginally twice a day until 12 weeks with no real side effects aside from lots of discharge and lots of bloating (which might've existed without the Prometrium).

While your prog numbers are still fine, it concerns me that they are dropping.  I took oral prometrium 200mg twice a day and I truly don't think this pg would have been viable had I not gone on this. My prog started to drop also b/t beta draws. Not saying that that would happen to you, but for me I'd do it again in a heartbeat.  It makes me wonder if I lost the last two pg's because of low progesterone, we'll never know.

Almost everything has some kind of side effects, I haven't found any with Prometrium that would make me second guess my choice to take it.

The day I experienced a m/c, my progesterone level was a 2, so we were proactive with prometrium. I started it just before I conceived in hopes it would advance my ovulation date a little. It did, I conceived and took 200mg prometrium orally for the first 13 weeks of my pregnancy this time. My doctor wanted my levels to be above 20 and they were close to 30 being medicated for all 3 of my blood draws. I was also taking metformin for the previous 6 months because we were trying to see if it would regulate or shorten my too long cycles. I continued both drugs until 13 weeks and basically just experienced diarrhea here and there. Could be my version of morning sickness though, I'm not a puker. Prometrium is a pretty easy drug to take IMO, made me feel better about making it to the point where the placenta safely takes over.

I was on prometrium. It was 100 mg. twice a day. I had no problems with it except it made me feel loaded everytime I took it. Also, a little sleepy at first. I stopped at 13 weeks with no problems.
