Dresser fell on Klaire & Me!

I swear it never occurred to me to bolt my dresser to the wall just the kids' dressers.  Anyways, the dresser in the master bedroom is tall - like 5 feet tall and pretty heavy.  I was getting ready for my run and Klaire pulled the bottom 4 drawers out.  I went over there and picked her up and she held onto the top open one and then next thing I knew the whole thing was falling on us.  It all happened so fast - I yelled SH!T and mh came as I was in between the bed and dresser and bed and it hit me more than Klaire. I am going to be bruised and sore, I am sure.  MH had to try to lift it up, it was a big mess.  Everything came off and drawers out etc.

I am so glad that Klaire is okay, it could have been so much worse.  She wasn't injured at all and it could have killed her (although I hate to think about that).

It was very traumatic.  so, I guess we should be bolting all dressers and bookshelves to the walls- not just in the kids rooms.

Okay, sorry so long.  Just a bad morning!

  • How scary!!! I'm glad you guys are ok!!!

We don't have our master bedroom furniture bolted either because the kids don't play in there...or we try not to let them play in there, but I guess we should because you never know!!!

I hope you recover quick...your marathon is coming up soon, isn't it??

  • This all happened at about 8:10am this morning and the sitter arrived at 8:30am for mh and I to go on our run.  My adrenaline was pumping and I was able to do a strong 8.  I have my 1/2 next Sunday!  can't wait!

Now I'm feeling very sore and bruised on my right side that took the impact.  And my legs are tired from running 8.  and I have horrible cramps which doesn't have anything to do with the dresser but since I'm complaining!  LOL!

I'm glad I ran almost immediately afterward or else I wouldn't have done it at all with the way I'm feeling now.

  • that is scary.  glad everyone is OK.  B and N did that last year.  they pulled our drawer out and were standing in it.  when Chris saw, it was too late.  The heavy TV came over, pinned him down, Natalie was stuck under the dresser and Blaire got out.  I was pregnant and had to lift the TV and dresser off of him.  It was heavy.  WE got rid of that TV and  went with a flat screen.  We didn't bolt the dresser, though.  That's a good idea.
  • While I was PG w/ Dylan Alex climbed Taylor's dresser to "help out."  It fell on her and I bolted them to the wall that same day.  I never thought about ours though.

Good Luck on your race!  I am doing a 5k next weekend then training for a 10K in June.  Now a friend is trying to get me to do a marathon relay this fall!!
