i have always loved the names rosaline and rosemary but with the insanely popular middle name of rose and the rise in botanical names, do you think the nickname rosie will be common soon? of course, if it continues to rise as a middle name, maybe it will decrease in popularity as a first name.
what are your thoughts? if you met a girl who went by rosie would it seem blah [as in overused] to you or cute/ refreshing?
eta: thank you for the replies!
Re: just curious: the nickname rosie?
I immediately think O'Donnell.
Just my first thought.. not necessarily bad. Just what first pops in my head.
It's cute, and there are lots of options for a more "adult" name besides Rosaline and Rosemary.
And reading the minds of future posters.. Rosie O'Donnell's 15 minutes of fame have nearly run out.. so that doesn't bother me. She'll be obsolete soon enough.
Baby Boy born sleeping at 20 weeks.
I don't know any child who goes by Rosie, but I know a few who have Rose-- names. I don't think it's very popular though.
My baby's doll's name is Rosie.
Agreed. If we had a second girl I would name her Rosemary in a heartbeat...except our last name ends in -rosa. Grr. I guess Josie and Rosie would be too cutesy anyhow.
I don't think it will be that popular, TBH. I think Rose is just the Marie of this generation, relegated to MN status only.
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
I like Rosie on a little girl. I have a friend who named her DD Rose and they call her Rosie.
I don't know any other little girls who could use the nn Rosie.
My grandmothers name was Rosaleen, everyone called her Rose except my grandfather who called her Rosie. I think it's beautiful!
