Baby Names

Hallie?

It took us forever, but we think we're finally set on a name for our little girl: Hallie Kate. I really love it, BUT I haven't seen much anything about the name Hallie anywhere, positive OR negative, and I have no idea how popular it is, so I'm still feeling a little unsure about it... what are your thoughts on the name?

Re: Hallie?

  • I know a little girl named Hallie... I really like the name, I think it's pretty.

  • I prefer Halle.  Hallie makes me squint to see if that's a 3rd 'l' or an 'i', and I just think it's unnecessary.

I think it's a pretty name, though, and Halle Kate (or Hallie Kate) flows well.

I like Halle, but dislike the spelling Hallie.

Halle Kate sounds nice (though I really like the sound of Halle Katherine, personally).

It is ranked in the mid-500 range according to the SSA website.

I liked the Halle spelling better as well, but DH liked the "ie" at the end, and after hearing some of his name choices, I decided to quickly compromise to defer some of the other names!  I'm hoping he'll come around to just the "e" by the time she comes....

  • Very pretty, I like both of the names.
  • I love the name Hallie! We used it when we got our puppy a few years ago though, so we won't be using it for our DD. Hallie Kate is adorable and I think it will age well.

  • I prefer the Halle spelling too; it looks more like a name an adult woman could carry off.  I don't know any girls named Hallie or Hallie, so I don't think it's super popular, although it is close to the more popular Haley/Hayley/Hailey etc.

  • I prefer Halle as well.

    Halle Kate is adorable.

  • NMS, but there's nothing wrong with it.  One of my best friends growing up was a Hallie, so that spelling always looks better to me.

  • It's too cutesy for my taste, sorry.

  • Very cute, but with so many different spellings of Hailey (which I realize is a different name) going around, you might run into some "No, its Hallie, not Hailey" issues.

Of course, I love the MN Kate!

  • I love that name. My DH doesn't like it though. He doesn't like many girl names. I know one teenager named Hallie who spells it that way. Personally I like the Halle spelling better as well, but if it's to compromise for your DH's choices, I totally understand. haha. :-) I'm in the same boat with the compromise thing!
  • I like it Yes
