I mentioned previously that after finishing my PhD coursework this May that I want to get back into the classroom to teach. I am nervous for several reasons--I'm pregnant, huge education cuts in the state, etc. It's pretty cut-throat to find a job these day. Luckily, I am a pretty awesome teacher, with the talent of being able to have students perform well on state testing without compromising the quality of teaching....well, I just got an email that I have an interview at my DREAM SCHOOL!!!! It's a science and technology charter school (I teach English though). They focus on project-based learning, which will be perfect for my dissertation research. And, the principal is the former Assistant Superintendent of the Catholic school system I worked for last year. Plus, the day is extended a bit (until 4pm) and the kids do not go to school on Friday!!!! Teachers only work half-days on Friday.
I hope I get this job, because it would be a bigggggggg relief and a great place to work. Plus, there's a dual language daycare center near it, which would be awesome for the LO.
