appointment question?

so we went to our first appointment at 6w6d because that was when it fit into both our schedule and the doctor's schedule even though they usually wait until the 8th week to see you. I was completely prepared for nothing to show up on the ultrasound but she saw the baby immediately and we could see his/her hear beating! everything was great.

We made out next appointment for 4 weeks later (their standard), which would be next weds at 10w6d. The likely hood that i'll be able to hear the heartbeat via Doppler at that stage seems pretty slim. If i would have seen them for the first appointment during my 8th week i'd be having my second appointment on my 12th week, which means i'd be a lot more likely to hear the heartbeat.

My question is this, should i reschedule the appointment for the a week later (11w6d)? My fear is that I won't hear anything and my next appointment wouldn't be until the end of may (14w6d), and that seems like a long time to wait to make sure that i haven't had a missed miscarriage. I have no reason to suspect one, but i have had very few symptoms the whole time and it would make me feel better telling our parents on mother's day if we'd actually heard the heartbeat.

Are you not going to have an NT scan?  Those have to be done between 11 and 14 weeks, and they have to do an ultrasound during that appt.

So exciting that you got an u/s and saw the HB!!  To be honest, it's hard to say if you will be able to hear the HB on the doppler at 11 weeks.  I went at 11w3d and they could not find it so they scheduled me for a viability u/s since I broke down in tears (but we did not have a chance to see/hear anything before that point.)  You might have a better chance since you would be closer to 12 weeks...  I guess everyone is so different.  I just assumed that it would be so easy to find at 11 weeks, from seeing everyone else's posts -- that's why I freaked out when they couldn't find it. 

You could probably reschedule because it is only a week later.  My second appt was basically weight, BP, pee in a cup, and 2 unsuccessful tries on the doppler -- that's it!  You could always call and ask if they thought it was a big deal to wait one more week.  GL!

i just had my appt and we couldnt hear the heartbeat (im heavy so i know that could play a factor) but my dr is awesome and brought in an ultrasound machine just to check on baby and make sure everything looked good and it did and we got to see the lil heart pumping away really strong so it was quite a relief.

I am not going to have an NT scan. I'd rather have as few ultrasounds as possible so i think I'm going to call and reschedule for a later date. I'm obese so i have been told it will be harder to find anyway and if i wait a week (or two) it will make it way more likely to hear it. I called the OB yesterday to ask if they would even check for it (i wanted to make sure my husband would be there if they were checking), and they said that they might look for a hb, but probably not.
