I have aetna and it covers diagnostic only, and we have a 60/40 plan, so we pay 40% of everything. So the first time I went the to RE, I ended up paying about $70 at the Dr. office and now I am getting a bill for about $70 from my insurace for a "consultation", I have been 2 times since and paid both times, one was just under $60 for my b/w and ultrasounds from cd 4 stuff, so I am sure I will get another bill from insurance and then for my hsg, I paid my RE $110, so not sure how much my insurance will bill me, my question (sorry to be beating around the bush) is it normal to pay both people, my RE and my insurance, it is really starting to add up, my husbands bw was about $260 and mine is almost $400, I just dont want to be taken advantage of...thanks for any input

I've never gotten a bill from my actual insurance company, only the Drs office. Are you sure it wasn't an explanation of benefits you got from your insurance company?

Well this makes me feel a little better, I looked at my bills and the ones I have got in the actual mail are from quest diagnostics, so maybe the actual one for my RE is what I already paid her ( I was looking up my claims online) they make everything so damn confusing.

Good so hopefully, I will just have to worry about getting labwork/bloodwork bills.

Thank you for you help Btw, I am completely shocked how much b/w is, holy canole!! Without insurance mine was like $1300, and my husbands was almost $600.

As your HR benefits person to assist you. They can tell you if you should be paying at the doctor and the insurance. Your benefits coordinator can be a big help. GL!!!

I work in a lab, and people are just shocked over prices all of the time! I'm glad you got it figured out.
