First memories

So I was thinking last night that my LO will not remember anything from his first years of life when he is older. This got me wondering what his first memories might be of and where we will be in life around that time.

One of my first memories was from when I was around 4/5ish I think? I used to play with a girl that lived next to my grandparents and we had decided to play hairdresser out in the yard while hiding behind some trees. (How we got a pair of scissors I have no idea.) Needless to say I remember chopping away at her beautiful blond locks. If I ever have a girl I am sure this will come back to haunt me someday.

I must have been about 3 because my parents had recently divorced.  Although they technically had joint custody, I stayed with my dad or the most part.  He was dropping me off at the babysitter's and before we went in, we were sitting in the car while he tried pulling my hair back into a pony tail as I complained that it hurt; he was using his fine tooth black comb!  I remember clear as day that he said "I'm sorry honey, I know it hurts, but Daddy's going to figure everything out.  It's going to be okay"  He finished my hair, gave me a huge hug and we got out of the car and the memory goes blank.   I think he was talking more to himself than to me now that I can see those words as an adult.

I remember a few things starting just before age 3. I remember opening a Christmas gift when I was 2 years and 9 months old, I remember my 3rd birthday party, I remember taking a sip of white wine out of my mom's glass when she wasn't looking when I was 3, I remember my dad cutting the grass the summer I was 3 1/2, I remember the first and only time I was ever spanked when I was 3, and I remember my parents fighting when I was 3. I know how old I was because of where we lived at the time. Those are probably my earliest memories.

One of my first memories is from when I was about 3. I remember standing in my parents' bedroom closet with my mom who was obviously pregnant with my brother (who was stillborn). That's all I remember, though.

You have a good memory! I don't remember anything that far back.

I have a lot of early childhood memories. As far as the earliest... I actually remember standing in my crib and wondering "where is she (my mom)?" so I am guessing shortly before 2. I also remember my grandfather picking me up and twirling me around. He died when I was 2. My mom said that was the last time I had seen him.

My first memory is probably from about 3 or 4-I know it has to be by then because I remember my grandparents being there and we moved across the country from them when I was 4. I was wearing an outfit with cows on it that my grandpa made me and for some reason I was walking on the edge of the bathtub, and I fell.

Speaking of memories, it does make me a little bit sad that DS won't remember the first few years of his life. This time is so special to me right now and he is learning so much, and I know I'll always look back on these memories fondly (diaper changing excluded!)
