November 2011 Moms

who is showing already?

I can't tell...i've only gained 3 lbs since my BFP and my pooch is definitely bigger.  DH thinks its bloat but its distinctly in the area where my uterus is.  Is anyone showing yet?  Is 8 weeks too early to show?  I'm just getting fat, aren't I?

Re: who is showing already?

  • I don't think I am showing that much...I can definitely still wear all of my clothes, but I feel like my belly is slightly bigger.  I dont' think anyone can tell but me and maybe DH.

  • My jeans are definitely tighter, but I don't want to break down and buy maternity clothes until 12 weeks!! Luckily, it's been in the high 70s and 80s lately so I'll be able to wear some old dresses until I want to go shopping :) I can't wait to get a bump though! I can see the start of a bump though, which is exciting!

  • I'm definitely showing food baby!  I know it's too early to have a bump but my pants don't button anymore and my coworker told me today "you look so cute and pregnant today" so there's something there (even if it is bloat!).
  • With m/s, I haven't been able to eat much and am down 7 lbs from my BFP. I know that will change soon but for now I am wearing my skinny jeans (please don't hate me!)

  • I'm 10 1/2 weeks pregnant, and I am showing slightly. I was tiny to begin with, (115lbs, 5'6). By tummy protrudes more, and despite gaining 4 lbs, it's hard and not soft!

  • I have what you would call.....baby fat.  lol.  My pants no longer button, but I think it is mostly bloat....or all the carbs I've been eating recently.

Our baby boy,Logan, was born still at 19w3d on 7/1/2011
Our 2nd baby boy, Mason, was born still at 20w3d on 1/31/2012

  • I am, but I was thin to begin with and I'm carrying twins, so that makes a difference.  I'm not showing enough where people would notice unless they already know I'm pregnant, but I'm not fitting into my regular jeans so well anymore.

  • as crazy as it sounds i noticed my stomach growing before i got a positive preg test! (That's what caused me to test in the first place!).. My dad even asked if I was preg. I'm sure that was just bloat- but I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow and my pants are tight and my belly  def. looks preg. It's slightly hard so I think it is mostly bloat :(

  • I am- but it looks ridiculous.

I'm 4'11'' so my dr. said that bc I'm so tiny there's nowhere else for it to go but out lol.

Honestly- I think it's mostly bloat and/or my uterus just pushing everything else in my stomach up and out.

The bottom of my tummy is getting hard though.

for a comparison - here i am in the same shirt, seven months ago:

    You're a cutie mom HoneyBee!

    *blushes* why thank you!

I definitely think I look frumpy but thanks. :)

  • It's going to be bloat at this point. Your uterus is still very low and tucked behind your pelvic bone. Most first time moms don't show until 16-22 weeks.

I'm short and thin and I didn't show with DD until I was 18 weeks. I'm now pregnant with #2, just over 12 weeks, and not showing yet.

  • I hope this doesn't sound rude, because I don't intend it to be...but where do you think your uterus is at this point?

Here's a diagram (I know you girls love this pic and its weird looking boobs! LOL):

  • I'm showing a little already.  We're going shopping for clothes on Friday because I'm getting too big for my regular clothes.  :(  I was only 110lbs to begin with though so I guess it's to be expected, especially with twins.

  • I look like I did somewhere around 14 weeks with DS.  I can only wear maternity & the next size up pants, no pre-pg pants really fit (well 2 capris, but they're getting tight & unattractive).  I'm not sure how obvious it would be to folks who don't know that I'm pg.  Folks who don't know me probably wouldn't have a clue.  I feel huge, though, and have been trying to hide it with baggy shirts & jackets/sweaters.
    image
  • Check out my signature picture. I'm terribly afraid I have a small sports team growing inside me. Being fair, I did have a bit of a gut before getting pregnant...however the shape and feel has shifted. And I am STILL 4-5 pounds lighter than prepregnancy. WTF????

I think (hope) that the way I am twisted in the pic makes me look more pregnant. I swear I don't look THAT big in the mirror. Though my pregnant professor asked me how far along I was and was shocked when I told her 12 weeks.

    image
  • I'm jealous of all you skinny b**ches...Haha j/k. But seriously, you all are so tiny. I gained about 20 lbs very quickly when I went of birth control, and I wasn't tiny to begin with (160 ish)...so basically I looked to be about 5 months along before I was even KU. Sooo I don't expect to show for a while.

I will also note that that doesn't stop me from wearing some maternity clothes already. I don't care that my uterus is still tucked in and it's just fat, I'm going with what's comfortable!! Haha

  • I still contend that bloat is a result of the pregnancy, therefore it's "showing" that I am pregnant!!!

  • who cares if it fat, bloat, or the pasta your gorged on for lunch? Your pregnant and that is all that matters, every woman is different and don't  really care what some chart says i should be, you know your own body....call it whatever you want to call it!

  • I've lost 5 pounds and my belly is definitely bigger.  And rounder.  My DH just said to me "wow, you look like you did halfway through with our first one!".  Thanks dear, I'd say I look more like I did at 14 weeks or so.  I know it's bloat, but I'm totally blaming it on the pregnancy.  And, if this one is anything like the first, bloat just turned into belly without going down in between, so I suspect I am a mere few weeks away from maternity pants.

    Yes  Yes

I think we're all well aware of where our uterus is at this point, and bloat or not I'm going to be excited about "showing". And for some people, their uterus will come out from behind their pelvic bone earlier than 12 weeks - everyone is different.

Like rachel said, even the bloat is a result of the pregnancy.

I agree with this 100%. Everybody is different...a textbook chart or general rule isn't going to apply to every woman. While it might be true for the majority, like pp said, every body is different.

  • Not everyone's uterus is in the same spot to begin with, and it's impossible to look at the pictures of some of the girls and think it's just bloat! There is a difference in the way a pregnant belly sits. If you feel like you're showing, and you're happy, then who cares! I am super excited for every change.

I agree. Plus, if you look at a cross section of your pelvic anatomy, the pubic symphysis never covers your uterus. So if we're going to get technical, your uterus is never tucked in behind your pubic bone. But, I agree its probably bloat. image

If by showing you mean the large amounts of visceral fat being pushed out into a round looking baby bump, then yes, i am showing.  But I am pretty sure my uterus is still safely tucked behind my pelvic bone.

This. I can stick out my stomach and I look 9 months pregnant. It's pathetic.

  • People who know I'm pg have said I'm showing.  I can tell too.  My doctor said my uterus was out of my pelvic inlet at 8 weeks.  This is my second though.

Exactly. If we are going to be scientifically correct.... If you've ever taken an anatomy course (or 4 in my case), you would know that every person is different and your uterus is never 'tucked' behind your pubic bone. It actually sits slightly above the pubic bone.  No two women are ever alike.  If you think you are showing, awesome :) Who cares if it's just bloat!  I'd be super excited!!  So enjoy the food baby or bloat baby!!

  • Not yet, but I've started out a little bit bigger to start with. I'm a little over 12 weeks and have gained 2 pounds.

I don't expect to 'show' until closer to 20 weeks, since I am larger. Although I doubt I'll be in my same clothes then.

  • I'm showing weight gain, but it's not belly specific.  I was thin before and worked really hard to lose and maintain weight the weight I was at- now I'm about 14 pounds heavier!  My Dr. is having me really watch what I eat and exercise more so I maintain.  My clothes still fit though... maybe it's all in my boobs! Cool

  • My entire torso (boobs, waist, belly) has thickened considerably and my regular pants are getting too tight to button. It's my first pregnancy but I bought a pair of maternity jeans already just because the elastic waist is so fricking comfortable. (Why are not all jeans made with elastic waists? hah!) I don't really have a desire to be one of those women who claim they didn't show til their 5th month. That's awesome for them. I haven't gained any weight yet, but I have no problem admitting my pants are tight and my belly is pretty round already.
