I told my girlfriend that I started having heartburn and she immediately said, "your baby girl is going to have a lot of hair." I had never heard that OWT, so I googled them and found these.....
1. Pregnant Women Should Not Take Baths
2. Holding Your Hands Above Your Head Can Hurt The Baby
3. Wearing A Lei Can Choke Your Fetus
4. You Have to Drink A Lot of Water or Your Baby Will Get Dirty
5. You Need Boiling Water Nearby During Childbirth
6. If You Have Heartburn During Pregnancy Your Baby Has A Lot of Hair
7. Your Partner Will Get a Sty in the Eye if They Don?t Feed You What You Crave
8. Sex Can Kick Start Labor
9. Full Moons Bring the Babies
What other OWTs do you know?
Re: Old Wives Tales
I haven't heard of any of these but I'm laughing about the #4.
I've only read about the old ones:
I like your's better.
Delivered 3 weeks and 2 days early via emergency c/s due to pre-e
When I was pregnant with my son, I had a crazy coworker that insisted if I allowed the water from the shower head hit me directly on my bump that the baby would be born with welts on his back AND if I drank dark colored drinks that he was going to have splotchy skin!
When I was pregnant with my daughter I had a friend's mom tell me the reason why my feet were swollen was because I wore high heels!
I think these two are TRUE. I could have sworn that my OB had said that an orgasm is basically the same as contractions..??? .also Labor and Delivery nurses that did our birthing class said that full moons do bring on more babies...something to do with pressure in atmosphere? My DD came 8 days early, a day before a full moon. So.. I thought there was some truth to it. I've already looked up the lunar calendar for my month.. and it won't help me much unless I want a preemie or a late baby. boo.
