*CD Daily Check In*

Hello Everyone! How is everyone doing today?

Sadly to say M is in a sposie right now. We have a rash that came up last night. While CJ's BUTTer is good at keeping them gone for the most part we have little luck with it healing something up. A&D is the only thing I have found that has worked on M. I have lathered her up and it already looks so much better. Hopefully we will only have to do a few more sposie changes before I can have her back in cloth where she belongs.

  • Joy is in an Earth's Best disposable right now because we're using up the disposables I bought to use while on our mini vacation.  I'm happy to report that these diapers have held up well to massive dumps, unlike Huggies or Luvs.

I still can't wait until we run out though.  I miss her fluffy butt!

however long the night, dawn will break.

  • I am so excited to join the Gret Cloth Diaper Change on earth day (this saturday)! It's an effort to change the most cloth diapers at one time ever to raise cloth diaper awareness and to get in the record book :) There are lots of local locations to go to and I'm excited to meet other cloth diaper mommies in my area.

Sadly there is not even one location within 200 miles of me. I would love to be a part of this. I will participate at my parents house (where we will be this weekend) even if I will not count towards the total.

  • i guess i can play this now. I was hit with a fluffervention this past weekend. So I am a fresh young newb to this.

I'm not doing it full time yet, since I dont want to try to school my sitter on it until I know what I am doing. I did my first wash load last night and was sad that the one he pooped in didnt look clean. :( I did a double rinse and a wash. I was thinking about trying the disposable liners? I dont know. I dont know what I am doing at all here.

I appreciate any help or encouragement. : /

  • Question for you CD peeps whose babies are eating solids: when did you find you had to start scraping? DS' poops aren't exactly 'solid' but they're definitely not the same old runny BF poop. I am just not sure what a washing machine can handle / how water soluble this new poop is! And I really really do not want to stick my hand in the washing machine to pull out 'clean' diapers only to get a handful of poo...

I use disposable liners to avoid some staining. Usually mine come out of The wash pretty clean, but I have one BG AIO that got stained even with the liner. I am going to try and lay it in the sun today. Good luck with CDing, I personally don't think it's for us, but I am sticking with it.
  • ***This was meant for Lilbit

We do two complete wash cycles one cold and one hot. We also spray all poops with Bac-Out and our diaps come out clean and stain free.

  • We've been cloth diapering Jordan a little over a month now. We love it. He no longer gets a weird rash like he did with sposies.  We use Bumgenius 4.0's (both snap and aplix), a few Bumgenius 3.0's and a few Happy Heiny Pockets (the sized ones, we don't like them at all)

We're dealing with some build up issues though :( Right now he's in an Earth's Best because I'm soaking his and trying to get the smell out. They smell okay (just a tinge of a off smell but nothing really the noticeable, T couldn't smell anything but I could) when they first come out of the wash but as soon as he pees in one it smells horrible. We use BacOut on them after poopy diapers and have had no problems with any stains.

I was using ECOS but I think that's what caused all my problems so I bought some Dropps to try out.  I'm also going to try and add an extra rinse or two in there and hope it works. If not I'm going to try Rockin Green. I just wanted to find a detergent that was cheap and easy for me to find around here.

Once we get paid I want to try out some fitteds and covers or maybe some AI2s.

  • DS has peed on me the last 2 nights. When he was on his side nursing, the pee came out of the top of the diapers. I probably need to strip them. Boo.

Is he on solids? Did you plop the poo and rinse before putting it into the bucket? We have some stained liners but I think as long as they don't smell they should be fine. Just stick them in the sun for a while and the poo color will be gone and it will be shiny white again.

he is on solids, but he doesn't stink when he poops, so I didnt know right away he was poopy. By the time I got to change him, i wasnt able to "plop" anything into anywhere. It was pretty smeared. (Am I really typing this? GAH) I wiped as much out as I could but there was still a bit in there.

What (dare I ask) do you guys scrape with? Ick!

We use the DIY detergent and it works great and it's cheap. We like it so much we use it on our regular clothes too. Cuts down on all laundry expenses.
