If your super-sonic nose makes DH smell awful...

Do any of you ever TELL YH that he smells?

Ever since the past couple weeks, MH's breath is ALWAYS disgusting. He brushes his teeth, and does his 6 month dental checkups and what not, but this nose just HATES his mouth.

I admit, I'm not the nicest person ever, and when he mouth breathes all over me at night, and tries to get all kissy, and talking too close to me.. I can't help but just tell him he stinks and he needs to stop. I feel terrible, but I can't help it.
I feel like hurting his feelings about it is better than me dry heaving or feeling nauseas.

I try to set boundaries and just tell him to keep his distance from my face, but he never listens, then just ends up all defensive and offended.

Anyone else in the same situation?

  • I am in a similar situation, but it is because my DH smokes.  I quit smoking 3 months ago and I am super-sensitive to the smell of smoke.  I tell him too to get away sometimes or to brush his teeth after he smokes.  Ugh, I just wish he would quit but I know it's difficult.

  • I notice that my DH's breath is worse in the evenings (esp if he ate meat for dinner).  If he wakes up in the morning and brushes his teeth then I'm more interested in kissing him.  Since this is our second child, I know that the romance will return at some point :-)  Hang in there!

This!  He says he's quit, but I can tell when he bummed one off of someone at work.  Oh, and I'm sure to let him know when he smells/tastes like an ashtray!

  • I have the same problem and yes I tell him that he smells to please back up.  He understands because his sisters and my sisters went through the same thing with their DH.

I could have just about written this myself!  I switched our toothpaste without telling him to Crest that has scope in it thinking that it would help.  It did help....a little.  It is so much worse if he eats something that I can't stomach....I can smell the food on his breath even AFTER he brushes his teeth!  And we always brush for a good two minutes!

I have yet to find a solution for this problem, so I definitely feel for ya, hun!

  • The only time I notice it is when he's sleeping.  Since I wake up numerous times every night when I come back to bed I have to make sure we aren't facing each other so I don't smell it.

  • I wrote something similar last week.  I totally feel your pain.  DH's breath bothered me to no end through my entire first pregnancy as well.  This time not only is he bothering me but DD's breath bothers me too :(  I feel like a terrible mommy!

  • My nose went supersonic when I was pg with DD.  And you know what?  It stayed that way!

My Dh carries mints with him EVERYWHERE and if he works out he showers immediately or I have to tell him to stay the heck away from me.  I came home from lunch one day before he had showered and the smell made my morning sickness act up.

  • We went out to dinner this past weekend and then to a bookstore afterwards to buy a present for someone. He had garlic fries at dinner and his breath hit me so hard in the bookstore that I actually had to walk a few feet away from him the whole time or I thought I might puke. I gave him gum but it actually made it worse.

Last night in bed, his cologne that he had put on in the MORNING smelled too strong to me. The super sonic nose is definitely a curse.

  • I tell him he smells all the time lol. He says I'm mean, but there he is trying to get close to me. He likes to irritate me on purpose sometimes. I've been having to sleep with the window open now so that the room doesnt make me gag. I'm fine once I fall asleep, but I get up to pee like 3 times at night and when I come back in...BAM! I smell it and I try not to throw up.

This! Uhhh! I'm pretty rude about it when I smell it too. The smell is horrible!
