Babies: 6 - 9 Months

If you BF and daycare come in...

How old is LO and how many oz per bottle of bm are you sending?  I'm still only sending 5 oz bottles.  I've read the composition of bm changes to "match" LO's needs, but I just want to see if I'm sending enough.  Thanks ladies!

  • How many bottles are you sending?  My daughter normally drinks around 10-15 ounces during the day (between 9 and 6).  She drinks that amount in three bottles.  I also BF her 2-3 times each day.

  • We started DC last week part time, and this is her first full week. I've been sending four 4 oz bottles, which have been sufficient.
  • My LO is 7.5 months, I was sending 4 4oz bottles but around 6 months DC requested I up that to 6oz. She now has 4 6oz bottles between 7-5.

Lil's in daycare 8-5 and she has 3 - 5oz bottles. Sometimes I can get more milk and make those 6 oz, but usually I can only get 5. She also has one solid meal while she's there.

  • We go through 3 6oz bottles between 8 and 5:30.

This sounds like us then.  I'm sending 4 - 5 oz bottles as well as a veggie and cereal.  He is usually almost ready for the 4th bottle when I pick him up, so I take him home and nurse and use that bottle for the next day.  I'm only able to pump twice at work, so that's all I'm able to send.  Whew!  Thanks ladies!

  • My guy is a little over 8 months. We send him with 2 bottles of 6 oz each. He also eats his breakfast and lunch solids at daycare.

At home he nurses an additional 2 times (morning and bedtime).

I would suggest chatting with your DCP to see if your baby is acting hungry, extra fussy, etc. Ben was super cranky until we upped his bottles to 6 oz, then he went longer between bottles and had a total attitude adjustment!

  • She has 2 6 ounce bottles while I'm at work.  Another when I get home and nurses 1-2 times.

  • 3 five oz bottles per full day at daycare (7 - 4ish). I nurse twice at home (sometimes three times).
