Freaky experience tonight

I was coming home from a viewing this evening around 8:30.  When I pulled in a parking spot (we are in an apt. complex) I saw someone standing in the corner of the building smoking something....really didn't think much of it...just thought the neighbors had a visitor, etc. (We all have our own entrances).  I got out of my car and started to walk toward our stairs to our door (we are on the 2nd floor) and this kid approached me starting doing magic tricks and talking.  It was really strange. Then he asked if this was my place...what was I going to say...I had to walk upstairs.  He followed me and started this whole thing about him trying to raise points for something and asking what I did for a living and was trying to sell magazines.  He was really shaky and nervous and talking real fast.  He showed me some kind of paperwork to say he was legit but I don't know if that was true or not...I told him I don't make decisions without my husband about this stuff and he got all irritated saying how nervous he is and couldn't wait to be picked up in a bit.  Who drops their kid off in the dark in a complex to sell stuff?  MY mom was watching my DS so I came in and told her.  When she left she didn't see him.  I was just so uneasy about it I finally called the non emergency line for the cops...they said if he isn't there now they can't do much about it but if I saw it again to call them back.  I can't wait til DH gets home from his meeting.  All I keep thinking is that it could be someone scoping out the area....OR it could just be legit and he was really nervous selling stuff, but weird how late it was and he was approaching people as they got home.  Anyway I am freaked out....ugh,,,,,thanks for letting me vent...what would you do?
