Has anyone else ever been stung by a scorpion while they are pregnant? It has been 11 hours and my leg is still numb and tingly. Anyone have any ideas besides tylenol and benadryl?
Holy crap... where on Earth do you live?? We don't have scorpions here in Northern NJ! thank GOD or I would move somewhere else!
I would go to the doctor if I were you. Then i would move to another state that has no scorpions!
In my bag: Nikon D90; 35mm 1.8, 90mm 2.8 macro (my fave), Lensbaby Composer with macro extensions. BFP after 13 cycles and one ectopic. Lost left tube 5/19/10.
This doesn't sound good at all. Have you called your Dr.?

Wow, the whole scorpion thing seems kind of nonchalant to you. I would be freaking out a lot more than just posting on the internet with a bunch of pregnant girls. Ya, I don't know what to add as far as the sting, but you should still call your OB to make sure the toxins won't affect the baby negatively at all.
Good luck, hope you feel better.

whoa ladies! Scorpion stings are not that big of a deal unless you are really allergic to them! They do not have that much toxin in them and they are kind of like a bee sting! Of course I had already called my doctor. I was just curious if anyone knew any home remedies to make the numbness and tingling go away any quicker. I know they make a big deal out of them in movies but if you live in the southwest in desert areas, they are just something you have to deal with.

LOL, for those of us who don't live in an area with scorpions they seem like the worst thing ever.

Dude, I'm from Canada. I've never seen a scorpion. Except in tanks at pet stores. I'm pretty sure if I got stung by one I'd be freaking out and thinking I was going to die.
But I can be over-dramatic like that.

We don't have scorpions here in St. Louis, and I like other people would be freaking out if I saw one, much less get stung by one but if it really is like a bee sting, try taking some corn starch and mixing with water and make a paste and put it where you were stung. I know that has helped me with bee stings in the past.
You only go to the emergency room if you have trouble breathing! That is how you know you are allergic to them. It is just like a bee sting! You would not go the emergency room with a bee sting, would you? I should have titled this for people who know what a real scorpion looks like, not the monstrous things you see in pet stores and movies. The ones we have are only an inch long.

I have to admit - I am picturing some 5 inch long killer scorpion! LOL! But I do know that they are pretty common in some parts of the US - I have family in SoCal and Arizona and I told them that I want to move there but I won't because of the scorpions! Keeping in mind that I run from bees like there is a grizzly bear flying at me!

This thread is all sorts of funny. I love all the advice from people who have never even seen a native scorpion let alone been stung by one. Clearly, you people are the experts.
I've been stung by a scorpion at least 10 times in my life. I've never once been to an emergency room for it. Have you been icing the sting? Are you keeping your leg elevated?
I have been icing and elevating it. This is pretty hilarious! I love the people who have told me to go straight to the er because I am going to die! I think they are all picturing the giant black scorpions from the Sahara....
Scorpion stings arent that serious! :-) I think this question was obviously ment for us who live in the desert. If she had been to the er they wouldn't due much for her..
If it is like a bee sting, (and I believe you, I was just saying how I'd react. It was a funny mental image) Then maybe try calamine lotion? That might help with the itch. I think that's what my aunt did for me the one time I got a bee sting.

OMGosh this post is all sorts of awesome! I second the cornstarch remedy. (Oh and its not just desert-y regions, just southwest in general. They have them in NE OK which is more foothills of the Ozarks.) Those little b@stards are evil! We used to find them in sinks or near sinks all the time growing up. My grandpa stepped on one. And my MIL put a shirt on with one inside. Stung her the whole way out! OUCH!

Oh lordy...did you read her response to someone freaking out? She was asking for home remedies to help with the pain. It was everyone else that turned into "Oh my gawd you're gunna dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" on her.

because it's a flippin' scorpion--not a brown recluse.
