Max has decided that any time anyone puts him down he is in danger of IMMINENT DEATH, and thus will cry hysterically and spazz out.
What sort of stuff happens at 6m? All I can think of is:
- separation anxiety
- teething
Anything else? (It was only 2y ago that I did this the first time but damned if I remember it. )
Re: list for me all the things that happen at 6m
at 6 months i was waiting for DS to roll, but he pulled to standing instead. So I would add some new move to the list (sitting, rolling, etc).
When I wake up at 6am, I'm ravenous.
For babies, there's crawling, sitting up, sound mimicking, ear infections,

Totally agree with having a distinct awareness that there was a world! I remember around that age that anything could be turned into a toy and would get DD all excited.
We also heard a huge explosion in sounds DD would make at 6 months. Not talking by any means, but just loud interesting babble... and the louder she got, the more excited DD was.
We decided to try to get Max into his own bed for a little bit at the beginning of the night and suddenly he turned into this clingy little sad monkeyface so I decided to up the cuddle quotient (otherwise I was going to lose my cool) and I figured... hm. Maybe there's something else going on at 6 months that I didn't think of.
ALL the stuff you guys listed is going on... he's babbling louder, grabbing for stuff, sitting up, etc. I hope he gets used to his new awareness quickly so he can calm down!
(Also, awful, but when someone tells me their kid is doing that too, it makes me feel better

DS is going through some of that as well. I think the laying down thing is teething, he kind of acts like he would if he has an ear infection but he hasn't had a cold recently to cause anything and I'm pretty sure I feel a little stub of a tooth under there...so I attribute it to that. Plus when he sleeps with me he's on the pillow and propped up a bit and he falls asleep really easily.
Oh yeah... teeth! We got hit with 4 teeth between 6-7 months. Man was she fussy and needy at times. We should have bought stock in tylenol and those teething tablets.
Separation anxiety didn't start until 9 months for us.
