I've noticed here lately that I do not like majority of other people's kids. The lack of discipline and respect gets to me way toomuch. If I were ever to act like that when I was growing up you could bet that my a$$ would've gotten punished. I understand that a lot of people want their children to have "free spirits" but let's be realistic people!
I feel the same way! It kinda worries me. I do think a lot of people slack off with discipline, but I'm afraid I'll want to have TOO much control over our kids and that things will just be a disaster.

I hate it when infants and even toddlers have had their ears pierced.... It can't be comfortable for them to sleep with and I think those mommies are just tacky....
Ditto. My 2 yr old niece has her ears pierced and I don't like it. I saw a mom getting her 3 month olds ears piereced at Piercing Pagoda last month. The little girl's cry broke my heart after they pierced her ear.
princessjulia28:
I hate people that want to be the victim all the time.. I have no PITY for you at all GROW UP!
It also makes me want to scream when ppl want other ppl to take care of their kids for them. (ie parents who get MAD that they have to take their kids to soccer practice and baseball practice so they dont let them play sports and the kid gets fat or the parents who never take their kids anywhere but expect aunts and uncles to do it) this is my parents and it makes me want to take a frying pan to their heads. just saying
I agree with this, but at the same time I don't. My BFF lived two blocks away from me, and in order for me to do after school sports, I needed rides from people to get home (I lived in a single-parent household). My BFF's dad would drop me off and I'd walk the block and a half home, it wasn't hard to just drop me where he did, it was halfway to his house. He started to get mad that he was always dropping me off, so I ended up quitting any sport that I started at school. It sucked, but my transportation wasn't getting home until 6pm... not my dad's fault he couldn't be there, it was just the way things were.
I can see both sides of this issue. I know my mom used to get really annoyed when Susy Homemaker the Girl Scout troop leader (or someone similar) would plan important meetings and events for 2 pm, making it harder than it already was for working moms to get involved in their child's activities. She made it work because it was important to her that we be involved in things, but I feel for the kids whose moms didn't have the kind of professions that offered vacation days or hours so they could accomodate the mid day time preferences of all the SAHMs. So if those kids weren't involved in things or their parents weren't around to drive them home, I can't judge.
This isnt what I am referring to.
I am talking more about parents that expect other people to transport their kids because they feel like it is owed to them not because they cant do it themselves.
The Weight Watchers commercials with Jennifer Hudson singing make me want to punch her. They annoy me so bad. I am also sick of Lady Gaga news. I think in both cases, it's media saturation, but I can't take it. Katy Perry can also go away, and take her Proactiv commercial with her.

This is why I loved my GS troop leader. Meetings were at 6 until 7pm. I'd get a ride down with my friend (or walk) and my dad would pick us up. I don't think some of the places think of working parents for afternoon activitites. We will run into this issue with our kids, unless DH starts making bank and I can be a SAHM when our 2nd child comes around.
For exactly those reasons you like it I don't. It shows scratches, dents, dirt, etc...very quickly and I feel it can look worn out way before it should. If you're committed to keeping it clean that's one thing, but I have seen numerous examples where it's not and it just looks bad. And my DD loves to color in anything that's white, so I would fear crayon and marker covering it within days.
Plus I live in a place where you need to dust basically every day to keep things clean, and the lazy side of my would not want to deal with the upkeep of white furniture
I'm guessing this is in regards to hating white furniture. There is less upkeep with white furniture than there is with darker furniture. Really, fingerprints don't get on it as much and you don't see the dust like you do with darker color stains. And if your kids think they can color anything white then that's an issue that needs to be addressed.
We are getting white furniture for our nursery, it's a small room and the white makes it feel more bright and open. I opted for white because there is less maintenance upkeep... we have dark wood in our living/dining room and basement and it needs dusted 10 minutes after I dusted.
I fully intend on freshening and/or applying makeup after I deliver my LO. I don't want to look back at pictures taken with my new son and worry that I look like a corpse or that I went to hell and back. Even if I just labored for 36 hours, I still plan on putting on some lip gloss, mascara and brushing my hair. I don't plan on a full makeup and hair session (a la Pregnant in Heels) but I will definitely be fixing myself up. Impractical, possibly. Shallow, definitely.

I sleep with my earrings in every night, I actually dont ever take them out, and Ive never once had them be uncomfortable. Same for my 5 year old daughter, her's only come out to change them & they go right back in, she sleeps with them in & she has never complained not even when they were freshly pierced.
I sleep with my earrings in, too. They are just small diamond studs but I wear them all the time and I forget that I have them in.
I have no problem with piercing a baby's ears. If I was having a girl, I would pierce her ears after her 6 month shots. I got a horrible infection (due to a metal allergy) after having my ears pierced when I was 7 and I ended up having to get them repierced. I would much rather pierce a baby's ears so they don't remember the pain.

Ah....just thought of another one which I'm sure will win me some ire from some ladies on this board....
The mommy glitter graphics. Unless you are 21 years of age or less and/or spend at least 3 hours a day on your myspace account, it's time to give up the glittery mommy graphics.
HAHA, I still have some on my MySpace page, but I also have only been on there once since having DD. Her pregnancy ticker and everything are still the same. I'm just a lazy bum that won't take the time to get on there and change any of it But I see what you are saying, at this point it just seems overly loud and obnoxious and I have kids for that LOL.

Ha! With my first child, even when hard contractions started at 5 mins apart from the get-go...I stood in my BR mirror, crying in pain....putting on some concealor, lip gloss, and eye-liner. YES. I. DID.
I also put it on before going to be induced with my last child. And the child before that.
I. DON'T. LEAVE. THE. HOUSE. WITHOUT. SOMETHING.ON.MY.FACE. (I don't wear a lot. Some concealer, eye-liner, mascara, and lipgloss. Takes me 2 minutes to put it all on)

Too early to think of anything good, so I'll go with this:
Popcorn is nasty. It's like eating styrofoam balls. The only redeeming value is pouring tons of butter and salt on it. But honestly, if I want to eat that much butter and salt, I'm going to put it on something better than styrofoam.
Dislike! I love plain popcorn with just a little bit of salt.

I think that women should NOT wear 4+" heels at work. There is a place/time for everything, and work is not the place for 4" heels. Mostly because those that wear them 1) don't have pants long enough to make the shoe actually look good and 2) they don't know how to walk in them. So yea, it's great, you're a hero who wears 4" heels all day at work, but you look like a jacka$$ walking around like Frakenstein's monster. Actually, Frankenstein's monster walks better than some of these women do in these heels.
I have a max of 3" for appropriate height heels at work. The 4" heels that I have are worn when DH and I go out... and I practice walking around in them at home before I ever leave the house wearing them.

I don't know how well it will hold up after labor or if I'll care to fix it at that point, but I'm definitely going to enter L & D looking pretty.
Haha, ITA. I plan to bring makeup to the hospital to put on after LO is born but who knows if I actually will?
My mom says that when she went into labor with me, she had to jump in the shower to shave her legs before they went to the hospital. I found that hilarious but yet I will probably do the same thing... Heaven forbid my doctor sees my hairy legs!

Some of us who are only 5 feet tall have pants that fit perfectly over 4" heels.
Also I can walk in them, but it took years of practice in 5-6 inch heels. :-0

Agreed. I walk better in heels than I do in tennis shoes. What of it? I'll wear my 4+ inch heels everywhere- work, dinner, the mall, around my house, and I'll love it and everyone who doesn't can suck on it!!! Guess that's my UO. I will continue to wear my heels straight through my pregnancy because I find them comfortable, I am 5 feet tall, and it's what I do. I am so sick of being judged on every.little.thing.

Certain couples (gay/lesbian) get a pass on this from me. Since they CAN'T get married in most states.
But, yeah, assuming you can get married, but one of you chooses not to (or CAN'T b/c they are currently married to someone else)...you're NOT married.

That makes 2 of us. I am better off in 4"+ than any other heels. I have a really high arch and it's very comfortable for me. There's also a difference between 4" eff me heels and 4" heels that are appropriate. I'm 5'5" and I have pants long enough for my heels (in fact, sometimes they are STILL too long!).

When I had DS#1, I showered and shaved before I went to the hospital. Contractions 7 min apart in the shower! Made sure I was made up nice and pretty too:) So glad i took a shower, I didn't get to take one until almost 4 days after! I was so sick I wasn't allowed too. I had DS#1 at 1:36am, so I didn't have anyone come up until the next morning, and I made sure I freshened my makeup before they all came! It helped make me look alive, not the pasty ghost I was after birth!

I did this when I went into labor with my son. There I am in the shower breathing through contractions while shaving my legs and bikini zone. My mom and I also went the day before for a mani and pedi. God forbid everyone see me looking at icky. I even found it funny at the time but I will do the same thing again. I felt like a thousand people looked at my hoohaa that day so I was glad I was presentable
The funny part is I am NOT a makeup person so the fact I found that so important is extra humorous for my family.

I. DON'T. LEAVE. THE. HOUSE. WITHOUT. SOMETHING.ON.MY.FACE. (I don't wear a lot. Some concealer, eye-liner, mascara, and lipgloss. Takes me 2 minutes to put it all on)
My dad is obsessed with Katy Perry. He convinced my mom we are naming Cady after Katy Perry (she hates her). My mother was so angry at us for being frivolous with a name until we pointed out Katy Perry is KATY
This doesnt bug me as much as straight couples using husband/wife before theyre married. He is not your husband & she is not your wife until the papers are signed. I also dont count common law marriages as marriage because if you really wanted to be married you would be.
Dislike! I love plain popcorn with just a little bit of salt.
They both bother me!
My UO:
eta: i meant for that to be a smiley face but i kinda like the face i made.

At about 37 weeks, I start getting the urge to make sure I shave every other day AND keep my toenails painted (even though I never paint them anyway).
I'm not an animal!!!!!!!! If I go into labor.....I'm going in smooth and pretty!
I seriously think I love you.
And the search is on....
LOL!
No one will confuse them!
My makeup bag will definitely be packed in my hospital bag. Will I take the time to apply most of it? Who.the.hell.knows. But at least I'll be prepared!
I've seen that one, and always think it's a contender for awkwardfamilyphotos.com

My nurse complimented me on my perfectly manicured hoo-ha AND pretty purple toes (I went to nursing school with her).. Let me tell you what sorts of fun positions I had to get into every other day to be completely smooth from the waist down on the off chance that I go into labor........She, too, was impressed with me showing up at midnight for my induction with make-up and perfectly cut and styled hair....
It's going to drive me nuts that I don't know which Bumpie you are talking about...
*frantically searches through posts to find picture*
I found it, too. I find it a little disturbing...
