Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Those who are or were dairy-free...

Thought I'd re-post here to see if anyone has had any luck with this...

Our pedi doesn't think DD has a serious allergy to milk protein, but rather a sensitivity b/c of an immature system.  She had a rash on her face (that went away within a week of me being dairy free), mucousy, green stools and some congestion and fussiness.  Most of these have gone away - although we still have the occasional bouts with the mucus.

Anyways, pedi said I could try to start integrating small amounts of dairy between 3 and 4 months to see if her system had matured enough to tolerate it.  So last night we went out to eat and DH was CRAVING queso, so I caved and we ordered some.  I didn't eat a ton, but definitely had some. So far, DD isn't showing any type of bad reaction to it, but I don't know if it's been long enough?

So I guess my question is, if any of you have eliminated dairy, and then tried it again, how quickly did you see the signs again if your LO wasn't ready?

  • It sometimes took DS a couple days of me eating light dairy for it to really affect him, and other times it took only a few hours.  I'm guessing it had something to do with the amount I ate and what I ate (hidden vs milk or cheese).

  • I tried some dairy alittle before we started her on solids. I had a scrambled egg mixed with a little milk, nothing else was different. Within about 8 hours I noticed the change in poo and tummy pains. So no dairy for Kirstin whatso ever. It depends on how sever the allergy is and how much you ate.
