I was thinking that since IF has robbed me of any suprises,  that I dont want to find out the sex of the baby, God willing it happens for us.

So what do you think, will you definately find out the sex of the baby, or be suprised.  I dont know, something about the anticipation of knowing is just exciting to me and I want to be completely suprised when LO is born.

I totally agree. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised about something. My DH is finally on board with that, too.

DH says he won't want to know but I DEFINITLEY need to know. I'm such a planner and I know I will want to set up the room in spoecific colors. Plus I would like to call my baby by name once we know the sex because we already have names picked out. My SIL is due in a month and she's team green and its driving me crazy!!!

I completely agree that I want the sex of the baby to be a surprise.  The problem is I don't know if I will be able to make it not knowing. Hopefully when that time comes, I'll be stronger than I think I am.

I would want to be surprised, but DH is not going to be okay with that. Since I don't feel strongly about being team green, I think I would just let us find out.

And I agree with your statement about IF robbing me of surprises. My girlfriends who are getting ready to, and are already trying blow my mind with their lack of knowledge about TTC. I wish I was able to be so naive, and it would all work out...

DH and I both want to know the sex of the baby beforehand. I thought at one point, I might want to keep it a surprise, but I know myself, and as soon as I'm pregnant, I'll be counting down the days until I get to find out.

I agree that I may not be able to stay strong, I can say I will now, but once the nurse or Dr says she knows, I may be like ok tell me..but I really really want to stay strong and be surprised, and I think DH will be okay with that too.

I do agree about being able to call my little one by their name if we found out too, because we have them  (well at least the girls name) picked out too, and it would be nice to already call them their name...its not fair being IF makes us have such hard decisions..

I don't do well with surprise and I am impatient (which makes IF all the more fun), so I would definitely want to find out the sex.

I think for me it will depend on the situation...Since multiples can be quite common with IVF, I would need to know then!   But if only 1 of 3 were to take (keep in mind my process doesn't get to start til late October so I could change my mind 100x), I would let the one and only be a surprise!

I am too impatient to wait 9 months to find out the baby's sex. Plus I want certain colors for a boy or a girl.

We found out with DD and if we are blessed with another child we will find out again.  I am a planner so it would drive me crazy not to know.  If we had a boy there are some things that we would need to buy but if we had another girl we are pretty much set.

I have always wanted to be team green, but I totally know what you mean about missing out on all the surprises that usually come with TTC. We'll never know what it's like to just miss a period and then take a positive test. We will miss out on surprising friends and family with news that we're expecting because they know we're going through treatment. So being team green means much more to me now- finally getting to experience a surprise amidst all the hurt and loss of IF. And thankfully DH is cool with being team green as well.

I'm leaning towards us knowing but it being our little secret.  I agree that IF has robbed us of all surprises and fun that TTC should be.  I'm a huge planner and therefore I don't think I could go team green.  Its a great concept but I don't think I could handle it. 

We'll see when the time comes.  I'll probably be screaming from rooftops and oversharing with everyone!

Getting pregnant will be a surprise, so that's enough for me. I def want to know asap. Like PPs, I'm too much of an organizer not to know. I already have ideas in my head about decorating the nursery based on the gender and whether or not it's multiple. My brain is way ahead of my body.

I don't know what we'll do... part of me wants it to be a surprise, part of me wants to plan. My friends had their doctor write it on a piece of paper for them, which they kept sealed until they decided they wanted to know. That way you don't have to find out in the doctor's office. That's probably what we would do.

We're undecided.  We bought all boy stuff because we found out with DS.  If we have a girl I'd want to do a purple room and a new crib set.  We'll probably find out.

OMGoodness, I wanted to know so bad I couldn't stand it.  I convinced my OB that I needed to be checked for an incompetent cervix (my mom lost 5 babies that way) and so I got to find out nearly 5 weeks before I otherwise would have!

H is so adamant on being Team Green, whereas I think it would be fun to know beforehand.  I think I'll have to side with him on this one!

The way I see it, finding out from the u/s is a surprise. DH has said in the past that he wouldn't want to find out, but I don't imagine I will go the full 40 weeks without knowing.

I would want to find out.  After all the crap I'm doing to get pregnant, I feel justified in going all out for the nursery & baby gear

This!  I am the same way.  I couldn't stand not to know.  However we might not tell our families and keep it to ourselves.

Pre-IF: I wanted to know, for sure. I am a planner with a capital P.

Post-IF: We will absolutely not be finding out. We are clinging to one last surprise and hoping for a sense of returned "normalcy."

It would drive me insane not to know, and stress me out.  I'm not a "surprise" kind of person.  I like to know what's coming rather than roll with the punches.  We will definitely find out.

I will want to decorate the nursery too, but I will just have to go with neutral colors and that add little touches to make it more girly or more boyzeee I think the suprise will be worth it, its gonna be hard though, but we can do it

I've seen quite a few of you say it too...and I too I want to be suprised, but don't think I'll make it.  I'll look at the u/s and prob figure it out myself. I prob won't be able to help myself. DH says he want to find out only if I do.  But, I'm pretty sure he wants to know.

We've already decided that we don't want to know. We actually decided this years ago before we ever had/knew we would have TTTC. However, now that treatments will likely take out any of the "surprise" of conceiving a baby, we can at least have that one surprise of knowing what phantom baby is. 

 

However, I say this all NOW. Maybe when we're faced with the option of knowing the sex we'll change our minds :P

Hmmm...I was on the fence about finding out/not finding out, but DH says he definitely wants to know so that he can be "prepared".  Not sure what kind of preparing he's gonna do, but I'm sure I'll be convinced to find out the sex ahead of time
