Austin Babies

little dude is scared at night...

so, he's been telling us he's scared at night.

we realized the other night the light from the bunny clock might be making some reflections on the closet doors (mirrored), so we are planning to magnet and chalkboard paint them. we took the out today, but haven't gotten to the painting bit yet.

i'm going to take out the bunny clock tomorrow (he was still saying scared tonight).

any other thoughts? i want to rearrange the room a bit more, but not sure if that will help or worsen things.

blah.

  • aw, poor little dude. I don't have any advice but I feel for the little guy.

  • jack had a lamp in his room that was casting shadows at night and he didn't like that, either.

he does like having a hall light on at night, which we do until he falls asleep, then we turn on the bathroom light that is close to his room. his room stays dark, but if he looks out into the hall, he can see that the light is on.

other than that, no advice. :(

yeah. tommy's door get closed, jack's stays open. the rule is, he has to stay in bed until we come get him/ let him know it's ok to get up. as long as he does that, the door can stay open during nap/ night.

  • hmm, might have to try that one.

I can't stand light at night, but once we move bedrooms I can leave the light on in the guest room and shouldn't see it from out room.

  • What if you got him his own flashlight he could flip on when he's scared?

I hate to see you paint the mirrored doors!  We have them too, and Marisa loves to dance and play in front of them, as do all her little boy friends when they come play.

Have you asked him what would help?  Sometimes Marisa amazes me with her ideas, and it might make H feel more in control of his fears if he can help brainstorm on how to make them better.

  • I think it is just a phase or stage? Mine says the same thing, then he comes and crawls in bed with us. ;-) I have left on the lamp, the TV, put more nightlights in his room. He will go to sleep just fine in there, but he always gets in our bed sometime after midnight. I don't care, he won't be doing it forever and I love to snuggle with him in the mornings.

  • Abby HAS to have the door open and hall light on in order to go to bed.  She has since she was about 2.5 years old.  She freaks if I try to close the door.

I like the idea of asking him what is scaring him and what you can do to help.  Abby used to tell us her fan and the "red lights" (her room was in front of the house, so car lights would shine in her window somtimes) scared her.  We couldn't do much about those things, but atleast we knew and could talk to her about them.

    Good luck! Poor H. :(

  • Thanks gals!

I asked him this morning and he said, "scared bunny" . I think when I changed out the face plate for nap times recently it might have done it.

So I'm going to let him help me take the bunny clock out and put it away.

I turned it off last night and he didn't make any noise until 7:30 anyway :)

    Wish me luck!
