When does this kid sleep??

He's moving around what feels like all day. Serious kicks. I am not complaining at all because I love to feel him move and it puts my mind at ease to know he's doing well. But I am seriously curious....I thought babies slept 16+ hours a day...I know for a fact DS didn't move this much. Makes me wonder if he's not going to be a very good sleeper when he arrives...

Re: When does this kid sleep??

  • Posters like you worry me because my daughter has bouts of movement, but she also has long periods of rest.  I wish someone could tell me exactly how much movement we should expect.  I'm not sure if my girl is just lazy-LOL

Oh my, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to worry anybody. I'm pretty sure each baby has their own movement/waking periods and schedules and it's all normal. That's why I was concerned that my LO might be a terrible sleeper when he's born.

I think there is such a large "normal" range and that's why docs usually only ask for 10 kicks within an hour once a day for kick counts to make sure baby is fine for the rest of the day. I just think my kid is never going to sleep!

  • I keep wondering the same thing! I feel like my LO never sleeps! He moves around very often throughout the day and most of the time whenever I wake up at night to pee, he is moving then too!

I read somewhere the other day that they take a lot of short naps, so maybe I just dont notice the short spurts when he is calm as much! lol

  • Do you feel him almost every hour?

I notice with Taryn that sometimes I don't always notice her moving when I'm busy because she's kind of on the mellow side.

She's definitely now a constant mover.  I've just noticed that a lot of other posters have really active little ones too.  It just different from what I'm experiencing which makes me wonder....

I do know that all babies are different.  I'm sure she's fine:)

  • This might sound stupid but: He might just be an active sleeper? - I move a ton in my sleep, I can only assume that my little guy does too right now because I feel him all the time. Big Smile
