Starting C25K today

Trying to get the motivation to get out and do this today ( I am excited though).  I am not a runner, at all, but I am determined to completed the 9 week course and run more often.  I really want a work out that I don't have to go to a gym and that I can do anywhere.  Your ladies previous posts have helped give me the motivation to do this!

  • Good luck! I just got inside from doing day 1 of week 3. I am feeling great! I have never been a runner either, but I love this program. Do you have someone to keep you accountable? I have found that has helped me the most. My friend and I started together and we call each other after each workout. We are kind of hard on each other, but it has kept each of us going. I hope you enjoy the program, good luck!

  • I never thought I was a runner either, until I started. lol.  Just a little bit at a time.  Good luck - stick with it.  Running makes me feel better than just about anything.
  • Great!!  I've been doing it as well!

My SO is holding me accountable because I asked him.  I am actually using a picture of my PP belly to motivate me and have set some good goals.  After 4 weeks of doing it, I am buying a jogging stroller and at 9 weeks I am hoping to be able to buy a smaller size of jeans.

  • So I started and though I only made it through 4 runs and 4 walks, I feel good that I did it.  Tuesday I am going to push my self to do 6 runs and 6 walks, Thursday 8 runs and 8 walks.  Then next week I will do a full week 1 work out.  I felt really good during the runs but my shins were killing me during the walking parts.  Hopefully that improves as I conitnue the program.  I can say I actually enjoyed the running part.  Never have I been able to say that before. :)

    Thanks ladies for the encouragement!

  • Great job! That first day was hard. I have downloaded the Running Mate 101 podcasts. I find the music and someone telling me how much longer I have to run (and that I'm doing a great job) really help out. I wouldn't recommend it right off the bat, as it starts off at 2/3 minute intervals, but something to think about. I just got a jogging stroller on Friday and it makes a huge difference. The other thing I have done to keep me motivated is I found a 5K race. It's actually 1 week before I finish the program, but it's for a great cause. My friend and I already signed up for it. Knowing that I have that as a goal has helped. Once again Great Job on your first day! Keep at it!

I have a program on my Android phone that has C25K timers and such so that helps and I can listen to music through my phone at the same time.  I am using the treadmill at the gym right now until it gets a little warmer but I figure in a month it will be perfect and I won't be so self-contious about jogging down the street.

     Thanks for the encouragement!

  • That's awesome! Good luck!

I just started the program last week and did day 1 of week 2 today. I have asthma and have thus never been a runner at all, but I am digging this program. I like having a regimented schedule with intervals; it keeps me focused and motivated.

Stick with it and you'll be at week 9 before you know it!

Thanks!  I have a mild case of asthma so this gives me hope.  Good luck to you too.
