CDs - When did you start collecting?

I'm 23 weeks pregnant and curious as to when you began building your stash.

  • When did you start?
  • Did you buy a bunch at once or a little over time?
  • What did your beginning stash look like?
  • How long did it take you to figure out what you liked/disliked when DC was born?
Thanks!

Re: CDs - When did you start collecting?

  • We started CDing at 2 months. We started with 3 BG3.0s and a week later added 3 more, and a week after that added a dozen prefolds.  I have since added 4 more pockets of different brands.  I am still building my stash little by little, which I recommend.  If you buy one style/brand at a time, you will learn what works for you and you can always buy more.  It's really fun to shop around and learn more as you go.

  • I researched and found a brand I wanted to buy and then waited until I was ready to use them before I bought them.  I went with BG 3.0 diapers and you have a 14 day trial for one diaper so I wanted to make sure they worked for use before spending all the money.  I did buy 24 at once and then used just the one diaper for 2 days and then decided I loved them.  I stared DD at 6 weeks.
  • Researched & bought at around 34-35 weeks, but I decided to do it kind of late. If I could go back, I'd start earlier and search for the best deals on Diaper Swappers since I want to start with her as a newborn :) I think reading experiences on here, and Diaperpin.com were really helpful.
  • Oh - and here's what I got to begin with:

24 GMD Orange edge newborn prefolds

    9 KL0's

    1 Thirsties fab fitted

    1 Thirsties AIO

7 XS Thirsties covers (kind of a lot, but I got some good deals)

    40 cloth wipes

    5 snappis

2 pail bags with the pul lining

2 pul lined bags for when we're out

A squirt bottle, some burt's bees, and some tea tree oil for wipes solution
