A co-op is basically a group of people getting together to "cooperatively" but something in bulk.  The big Sticky Peas custom we did was a co-op.  Most of the yarn dyers out there prefer to sell their yarn to co-ops.  They get to dye a lot at once and ship to one place.  They offer a discount for this convenience as well.  Typically the person who organizes the co-op ships to the individual members who placed orders.  Sometimes, though not always, the organizer charges a small fee for doing the organizing.
