I haven't officially been diagnosed.....I snore bad (according to my husband....) I went to an allergy doc who took one look in my mouth and "yelled" at me that I didn't mention that I snore (well, according to ME I don't!!!!!)
Anyways, I did a mini-at home sleep study, which I failed...but it was a rough night of sleep....
now they want me to do a full sleep study and the lady setting up called and said I will owe 1k to do it....gah!!!!!
Soooooooooo---I mean, what can they tell me....is it worth it? Or if its suspected can't I just spend the 1K on the sleep machine cpap thingy and skip the sleep study? I hate to fork out 2K because I snore....but then again, if I will sleep better, then its worth it right???
WWAND????
Re: anyone have sleep apnea???
My dad does, and getting that machine has changed his life. He was so grouchy before, and would literally fall asleep at the table or as soon as he sat down on the couch. It was because he was not sleeping well at night. He was snoring so bad, and my mom would wake up b/c he was literally gasping for air. He is well rested, happier, and has been losing weight.
Yes, you have to do the full sleep study. Then go back again b/c they have to adjust the machine specifically for you. Then they order it, and you have to sleep with it in their sleep center so they can monitor you and make sure all the levels are right. That was my dad's experience anyway.
It was a PITA in the beginning, but soooo worth it for his health and overall well being. Everyone is happier b/c he isn't so tired and grouchy anymore! Also, it's very bad for your heart b/c of the interruption in breathing.
As for the money, I know my parents insurance covered the sleep studies. I'm pretty sure the machine is rented, and they pay a monthly deductible.
Good luck!
