Meal planners, come in please :)

Do you guys use any online organizer/site/software thingy to plan your meals and organize recipes? I found Plan to Eat a while back and thought it looked neat, but wondered what you power planners use, if anything.

  • I dont.  I have a word doc of all recipes I find that I want to try.  So when planning my meals, I go through that and print off any new recipes to try for the week, and fill in with oldies but goodies from my hard copy recipe file.  If the new recipe is a keeper, I keep the printed copy in my hard copy file.  Probably not THE most efficient way, but it works for me.

  • Negative. I've always wanted to but I think I'm not even organized enough for that. I go grocery shopping every couple days so I never plan out meals. I just decide that day what sounds good for the next couple and go from there.

I'll check out the site you listed though.

  • Nope - I have a notepad that is specifically for meal planning.  I usually find them in the dollar bins at Michaels.  Sunday-Saturday is listed.  I have a bunch of cookbooks so I just go through and pick out meals (only plan for dinner).  If I see a recipe online, I print it off and add it to a binder with misc. recipes.

I generally plan meals on Wednesday's for the following week.  I compile a grocery list on Friday and shop on Saturday.  If you plan out your meals, then you should only have to make 1 trip a week to the store.  It's worked out nicely for us.

  • I use e-mealz and love it.  It makes planning and making dinner easier.
