Evening Primrose Oil/Raspberry Leaf Tea

Are you taking EPO or the tea or do you plan to take either of them?  My friend, who is a midwife, gave me a box of the tea and suggested I take EPO too. I have some EPO in the pantry that's leftover from my TTC days.

I wish I thought to ask my midwife about them this morning, but instead I'm left to consult with Dr. Google who led me to this abstract about EPO:

I'm just curious if you guys had any thoughts on it.

Re: Evening Primrose Oil/Raspberry Leaf Tea

  • I'm doing RRLT but not EPO. I started the tea at 29wks w/ 2 cups a day. We'll see if it works! Hope it's doing its toning! haha

  • My doula recommended the raspberry leaf tea and gave me a couple to try... but I haven't actually drank any yet.

My doctor suggested starting perineal massage... but that sounds so unpleasant, I haven't done that yet, either.

No one has mentioned the EPO, but I don't really think that's up my alley either. Honestly, I haven't seen any real evidence any of these make much of a difference.

  • i normally drink raspberry tea because it doesn't bother my stomach and i like it. its a lipton tea bag? does that count?

No. That's fruity tea, not raspberry leaf tea.

I tried the perineal massage thing a few times this week but I got bored after 30 seconds and stopped. Plus it's sort of hard to reach with the belly in the way.  I want to do it because I'm scared of tearing more than anything else, but I just can't seem to commit.

I jumped on the tea bandwagon. I thought it would taste fruity, and I hate flavored teas.  As soon as I realized it tastes like black tea, I threw a bunch in boiling water and made American iced tea with it.

  • I've been thinking about raspberry leaf tea for a couple weeks now, but I think tomorrow I will go buy some. I could use some more cervix ripening ... who couldn't?
