It's about that time to revamp the boys' bedroom. We're looking into a bedroom set (something similar to the Belden and/or Store-it by PBK & PBteen) and then just filling in with their PBK chairs and some shelving for books, etc. We're also thinking of repainting their room so need some neutral color ideas. I was thinking of a tan color, but a lot of our downstairs has been painted that and didn't know if it would seem so drab having yet another room in the same or similar color.
What are some inspiration sites?
Recs for roman shades or other ideas for blackouts for their windows?
If your same-sex children share a room, would you keep it as neutral as possible or use their input and put different things in there for them? (i.e. divide the room to each kids side and they can do what they want with pictures, bedding, etc?)
ETA: I think I will be staying away from bunk beds and lofts...don't really like the idea of climbing up and changing sheets or the thought that someone could fall out and break something.
Re: Shared bedroom ideas
I let the kids pick out the theme and have some input to accessories but I ended also choosing some things that they didn't pick. I used polyvore.com to collage everything before going forward with the room make over.
I just sent you a PM with a link to DS's room make over project. We went with a super hero theme. He's obsessed with the Justice League.
Great thanks! I haven't used polyvore so I'll give it a shot.
I have to warn you to see stuff in person, after making your collage. I used a mixtures of items from different retailers but when it came down to things like wall color and curtain color, it really helped to get the swatches from the store (PBK). I ended up using a color I otherwise wouldn't after holding samples together. Making the collage was a good starting point to get the theme or idea together. Just verify reality before moving forward with purchases because a picture and a computer monitor can change how something looks. Oh yeah and the curtain texture might be different in person than what it looks like on the computer (I ended up using twill instead of sailcloth).
