If you use formula... POLL

Just curious.  What type of water do you use to prepare your formula bottles?  When we run out of Nursery water, we use tap water (which pedi said it was perfectly fine since our city does not remove the fluoride).  However, when my mom sees me doing so, she gets insulted!  Pedi said not to use bottled water as it doesn't contain the fluoride necessary for teeth development.

Thanks.

  • I had no idea tap was ok for babies. I had a friend over yesterday who made a bottle with tap and I was kinda like Zip it! haha. I didn't say anything, though.

EXCEPT.. San Diego tap water is DISGUSTING in my opinion. At least where we live. It even smells funny. I won't even give it to my cats, and I think it tastes terrible. That probably explains a lot of my shock.

  • Our pedi told us to use nursery water until they were two months old. Then we switched to tap.

  • I boiled water and poured it into gallon jogs. I usually had six filled jugs at a time.

I think if this was my second pregnancy and I didn't have new mom nerves than I probably would have switched to tap water around 6 months my pedi said ours was fine to use in our area.

  • For awhile we used tap water, but, there were several scares in the metro area of the water systems being messed up and we switched to bottled water.  I'm more worried about too much flouride than not enough, so I don't do the nursery water.

  • Weird. We were told by Public Health that their dentist(s) suggests using bottled water around here because the mineral/fluoride content in our water is high. So we've been buying bottled water from the get-go. Can't wait to stop that expense. I've always been a tap water drinker.

  • We use tap water but we have a well...  Our infant vitamins contain flouride.
