Is baby b always the smaller one?

A nurse a while back looked at coop and asked if he was baby b... Is baby b normally the smaller of the two if there is a lb difference??? Silly question I'm sure...

Re: Is baby b always the smaller one?

  • My baby B was 10 ounces bigger than my baby A at birth. They're the same size now. O didn't want to be the "little" brother ;)

  • I don't think it is silly. A lot of the ladies in my MOM group's baby B's (those who knew for sure) were smaller. I'm not sure if this was just a fluke, though.

Are you asking just for IDs?

We didn't really call them Baby A or B because um. The penis kind of made sure we knew who was who ;).

But if you go off what doctors guidelines for who is Baby B is (at my office it was whichever twin was closest), my Baby B (Grier) was always a few ozs. smaller than Baby A (Camden).

  • My Baby B always measured bigger than Baby A in ultrasounds.  Yet, at birth, he was over 6 lbs and she was just under 5 lbs.

  • well it depends. M (who was B) is always slightly heavier (like 6 oz), and J (who was A) is always slightly taller (like .5 in).

how's that for not helpful ;)

  • My baby B has been a few ounces behind on the ultrasounds..not sure yet on birth weight if it will hold true.

My OB made a comment once that if we able to do a vaginal birth it would be nice if A stayed the bigger one since she'd be out first and it would be easier that way. So I think she's had some where A was the smaller one and B was bigger.

  • My Baby B weighed more at birth (by 3oz), but she was 1/2 an inch shorter than Baby A.  They were surprised she weighed more.

  • B was DS and he was 1 lb bigger and is now closer to 1.5 lbs bigger. Like pp said, A was lower and had I delivered vag, ideally you want A to be the bigger one.
