that one was real... and so it begins

At my 36 week appointment I was 1.5 cm dilated and 25% effaced so not much but something and all of the sudden today I have felt a lot more pressure on my cervix and cramping all day. Well i'm lying in bed and feel a real contraction.... not like the BH's i've been having for months but a full on painful contraction. I don't think i'll have the baby tonight or anything but this leads me even more into thinking she is coming earlier rather than later. I want to wait until 37 weeks but after that bring it on babe.

Anyone else feeling their body getting ready for labor/ having similar symptoms?

  • Starting last week I began having a lot of pressure down there and it hurt to walk! It went away and my doc said she hasn't dropped. Currently I'm at a 2, and I can't remember how much I'm effaced but it's pretty high. Today that pain came back. It hurts to take a few steps after getting up from lying down. I feel like my body's falling apart! Also, and TMI, but I've had loose stools off and on..they say that's a sign of your body preparing for labor as well. Who knows. Plus I'm EXHAUSTED. My fatigue nowadays is worse than it was in the 1st trimester.

  • Not to discourage you at all but I have been having contractions since 29 weeks.  My Doc said some women cn have them without much progress for months.  I am still having them but trying to just ignore them until I feel a definite intensening in pain or them getting closer together.

    Good LUck!

I have been having them for a while too... since the end of the second trimester. The other day I had contractions all day AND night, usually it's one or the other. This is the first time it has hurt that badly though and just felt different. I know I could go until 41 weeks for all I know but having that first painful contraction after months of those uncomfortable ones that made me wonder makes me realize 1. there was nothing to worry about before and 2. this is different and heading in the right direction. All this guessing... couldn't I just be filled in on the official date so I know what to expect? LOL.

Sounds to me like you are close!! I'm no doc but those symptoms would lead me to think something real will be happening soon. Who knows though... it's such a guessing game. Everyone is different... which makes it frustrating. I'm just glad I have felt a difference today, means my body is getting itself ready for the big day soon. Nice to head forwards instead of backwards!!

  • Crazy.. I had my appt today too and I am 36 weeks. I was 1.5 cm and 25% thinned out as well. With my daughter I had problems thinning out so I was pleased to see he is on his way. The doctor also informed me his head is low and definitely ready!
