Is trying to lose weight pointless if I'm still BF?

DH and I have been working out every night for the past few weeks. I've really been trying to watch my calories intake (while keeping in mind what I need for BF).  I feel like people say that they hang on to that extra 10 lbs or so until BF is over. 

I lost the pregnancy weight very quickly, but I would like to weigh about 20 lbs less than I do right now.  Has anyone had any luck losing additional weight (not preg weight) while BF?

I fully realize that exercise is good for me regardless of weight loss, I'm not going to stop, I'm just wondering what I should realistically expect in terms of weight loss.

  • I am having an incredibly hard time losing weight while BFing. You aren't alone. I think I am not going to really worry about the drastic weight loss till after I start weaning. (Which may be in a couple of months to formula for other various reasons.) I am just worried right now about keeping myself healthy and making sure Remy gets enough milk.

  • When I was BF'ing I couldn't cut any calories or my already pathetic supply would dip drastically.

  • I have had the opposite problem I have lost more weight than I started with. I plateaued around four mo pp then DS was up at least 4-5 times a night and during that month and a half I lost 20+ lbs. I am still breast feeding and I lose about a lb a week now. I eat healthy and work out hard core once a week and walk everyday. I gained 60+ lbs eating dq blizzards everyday during pregnancy just so you have a context of my weight loss.
