DS#2 was running a low fever this morning, I gave him motrin at 6:30 and dropped him off at the sitters at 7 (he has an ear infection) I told sitter I gave him motrin at 6:30 and she said ok. I just called to see how he was doing and she said he's been find all day, running around and playing, she then told me she gave him more medicine at 10:30 which would have been 4 hrs from when I gave it to him, not 6. She's so use to me giving him only tylenol which is every 4 hrs, that she forgot I told her I gave him motrin and that i put motrin in his bag.
I'm sure he'll be ok, but I'm a little freaked being it was given to him 2 hrs before it was suppose to have been.
Has anyone ever done this before?? I wish the pedi would hurry up and call me back!
Re: quick question while I'm waiting for pedi to call back
It'll be fine as long as she didn't use way too much. It's not ideal, but it won't hurt him for just one time.
The OTC doses are lower than prescription doses by quite a bit. Not sure how much for toddlers, but I know when I had surgery I was taking 800 mg every 4 hours of prescription ibuprofen, when OTC dose is 400 mg every 6 hours.
