Babies: 6 - 9 Months

WWYD re sick baby?

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway.

My best friend is getting married on Saturday.  It's going to be a huge, fun wedding and lots of friends of both DH and me will be there.  We planned months ago to have my parents keep Betsy for the weekend so we can enjoy ourselves.

However.  Daycare called this morning to say that B has a fever of 102.6.  She isn't acting like she doesn't feel well, although she is already on antibiotics for a "worrisome" ear and I'm thinking that maybe they aren't strong enough.  i've already put a call in to the pedi.

If you were me, would you still let your parents keep her for the weekend?  They live two hours away.  Or would you make DH miss the wedding to keep her at home?

Re: WWYD re sick baby?

  • I would see what the pedi says first, and see how she is tomorrow. I know I would hate to miss a friends wedding I was so looking forward to, but I would hate leaving him sick. Its a tough one.

  • I would continue as planned as long as your parents are OK with it and feel comfortable caring for her.

I would see how she is doing tomorrow - and hear back form the pedi before making a decision.

If she is acting fine, and her fever isn't too worrisome, then I would keep your original plans.

This is what I was going to say.

  • The wonderful thing about babies is that they bounce back pretty quickly.  I would absolutely keep the original plans while keeping lines of communication open with your parents expressing your concerns.  Play it by ear and see how she is by tomorrow evening.  I really hope LO feels better!
