If any of you read my blog, you know that naming the baby is my biggest source of stress right now...that Mr. J and I just can't pull it together and give the kid a frigging name.
Our biggest mistake thus far has been putting the names to a vote, because our favorites are the ones that nobody else really seems to be liking...and we are back to square one all over again.
I guess that we shouldn't care what others think, but at the end of the day I can't help let it affect me a little.
Is anyone else having this much trouble naming their kid??
Re: Naming the baby - the names we love.
Yes! I have a husband who likes names I suggest, suggested a few of his own that we added to our list.. but will not commit!!!!
I am hoping he will be like oooh well of course let's name her..... when she is born.. But who knows.
At this rate.. her name MAY be Isla June.. but umm it may not? And if it is not? I have no idea what it will be.
Same ol' advice, but name the baby what you want and don't let others opinions affect you.
I had to take my own advice, because VERY few people IRL like the name we picked out for our son. Most hate it. We love it though, so screw them!
Thats sorta what we did.. We asked what people thought and we LOVED the name Finnegan and NO ONE liked it, my mother hated it, my best friend said she wouldnt call him Finn (which is what his nick name would be). It really pissed me off.. and we decided to just switch it all together, and picked Ian, but i still love Finnegan, and now DH is stuck on Ian... so my advice! GO WITH WHAT YOU LOVE!
side note- i Love the name Silas too!! lol
Thanks! Finnegan is a kickass name, as is the NN Finn. I also love Ian, it was on my list!
I totally agree that Finnegan is a kick ass name!!! no one else thought so
Silas was on my list, and DH said ehhh... (we watched ALOT of weeds LOL)
Love, LOVE the name Silas!
OP: Go with what you love. Who cares what other people think? It's your baby and maybe when you see your LO you'll feel what the name should be.
Naming your child is hard. A name is the main thing people associate themselves with and grow their personality around. I have noticed this a lot, but people with the same name tend to act the same. Maybe it's just a coincidence that my husband and I tend to see, but who knows.
And your name can totally change someone's opinion about you, especially when it comes to getting a job. It's a big decision, so take your time. Don't stress out too much. The perfect name will come to you, maybe even after you see him.
half my family (brothers/step mom/father) hates our name but we decided we dont care. I wish we never shared but i dont know how to keep a secret
we both have liked it from last summer without fail and we have no other choices....
If i had to have a backup name it would be Henry or Colton which I dont really like.
go with YOUR GUT. what do you want to call him when your alone? When im in the car and i talk to him, I always call him DES.... and it feels right.

My favorite isn't even on the list because I got tired of hearing people tell me it was too "hearty" of a name for a baby.
Yeah, well, he'll only be a baby for a whille...most of his life, he'll be a full grown adult, when did we forget that?
I'm in love with the name Aristotle...with Ari as a NN...
I like that name a lot!
It's a bit hearty... but if you love it why not?
Ari is a cool nick name!
My husband and I chose on our own we didn't ask anyone's opinions. Personally, I like her name, it flows well but it wasn't my first choice. My husband is in love with her name... and so we have a name, because I love that he loves her name.
Chances are if you put names up to vote, the one you love most won't be in the running...do you want to name your child a name that neither you nor your husband love?
My husband won't really discuss it. We've got one name on the table..but I'm not sure he really likes it.
I loved the name Zoe before we even TTC and early on it just clicked that it was her name. But DH wanted to look at other options, so we went through the name books and asked for suggestions from family and friends. Luckily everyone loved Zoe and we never did come up with anything we (or more particularly I) liked, which is just as well because I had been calling her Zoe when I talked to her for months
We haven't told anyone what her middle name will be because we didn't want any flak. I'm sure my mom is going to hate it and say it's a hippy name. lol Which is a big reason we like it!
