I was just having a normal, random conversation with my mom on the phone last night. She ended up asking if we were already thinking about any names, and I told her the few we had agreed on.. Normal names. Nothing outrageous.. Things like Katherine, Julia, Nolan, and then some.

My mom's reactions included..

"Oh my god! Everyone named ______ is a B!TCH!!! That's a b!tch name. Great, my grandkids are going to be b!tchy and hate me!!!" (Whoaaa there mom. Whether that was a joke or not, it's a little uncalled for!)

And.. "Ew you like THAT name? SERIOUSLY??? What about ____, ____, ____, or ____...?"

I had to remind her that it's a good thing these aren't her kids, so she doesn't have to worry about what their names will be!

This is why I'm not sharing our name ideas with anyone.  Not that I expect a similar reaction, but people are more likely to say something negative before you've officially named the kid.

That was my original plan, but I only caved since it was my mom. I guess it was a bad idea lol.

Everyone named Julia is a b!tch -- a Babe In Total Control of Herself. :P (I'm a Julia and I love my name!) 

Katherine is on our short list as well.  It's DH's #1 pick as he wants her to go by Kate as a nickname if we're having a girl. 

Tell Mom that she had her chance to name a baby when she had you.

Haha my mom thinks Katherine is the b!tch name. Probably in part to her horrible boss being named Katherine.

Julia was the only name she DIDN'T bash, more than likely because we'd be using the name Julia after MH's mom who passed away. It'd make my mom the b!tch if she said anything about that lol.

Someone always has an opinion, at least until the name is official or is attached to an (outside) baby.  Glad you are able to let her know how you feel!

It's okay nobody but DH and I like the name we've chosen for a boy: Calvin. But we have told everyone that it didn't matter what their thoughts were. My mom keeps pushing for something like Samuel or Travis but I've told her we aren't changing our minds!
