Hi everyone,
At week 5, my progesterone levels were 12.5. At week 7 they dropped to 7.9 and I was given progesterone suppositories. All of my sonograms thus far have shown a healthy, growing baby with a strong heartbeat.
Is it common to lose progesterone? Does it always lead to a miscarry or will the progesterone supplement work to balance me out again?
I just found out about my levels an hour ago, so I haven't been able to speak with the doctor yet. I guess I'm just looking for hope that this isn't always a bad thing.
ever since I found out I was pregnant, it seems to be one issue after another. I can not wait until I'm out of the first trimester!!!!

Re: Progesterone worries
It's not a bad thing. The sonograms showing a healthy growing baby and strong heartbeat are what you should focus on - that tells all.
My dr likes to supplement progesterone and wants me above 24 - which is a ton of progesterone for me to take. On my own, I'm down around 10, like you, too. When I told him I'm having a hard time taking it because of M/S he said not to worry, it ebbs and flows anyway.
My cousin (an ob/gyn), told me they've stopped supplementing it in her practice (7 Dr's) as it doesn't make a difference - at least that's what they've found over time. What matters is growth and heartbeat - so since you have that, please don't worry.
A baby with a heartbeat is more important than what your number is.
I was 15.7 initally - they didn't test it again. But that was at 19 DPO, so it was early, and I had spotting. I am on Prometerium until 10 weeks, and I won't have it tested again, we have seen the baby with a HB twice.

Thank you all! I am soo looking forward to the day when I can post something completely positive instead of the constant panicked posts!!!!
With all of these tests and sonograms, I am starting to think that the mommies from years ago had it easy. Ignorance, sometimes really is bliss. Now there is just too much info around.

My level was 6, so I'm on oral prometrium until 10wks (when the baby apparently takes over and starts producing progesterone himself). I was told by my doctor that when it comes to your level, >15 is great and you probably have nothing to worry about. <5 is a problem and you should definitely be put on a supplement, and anything in between could go either way.
She also said that low progesterone is the one cause of mc that we can do something about, and with that now under control there is no reason to think that my risk is any higher than anyone else. I would think the same applies to you, and seeing the heartbeat is a great sign!
