Babies: 6 - 9 Months

For ladies with fireplaces...

How are you baby proofing them? Hunter can pull himself up on it and is trying to figure out how to climb up there. It's kind of an off shape, the corners are 45 degree angles and it's made out of brick. We've got a big comforter on it right now to try to cushion his head incase he were to fall but it's just not cutting it!

  • Our fireplace is not raised, but at the moment we have it covered with comforters.

  • we have these sticky pads on all the corners.  it does not prevent them from climbing by if they fall there are no sharp edges.

I have to get these. There are foam-like things made for coffee table edges that I figure should work.

  • Our fire place is raised but we haven't hit that bump in the road yet. I know we will be getting the foam or rubber pads that go around the edges. My sister has a wood stove and they used a baby jail/ playpen gate thing around it. • My mom is making a cover kind of like one that pp showed. She's putting a lot of padding in it so that Natalie won't get hurt if she falls on it. Right now the jumperoo is in front of the fireplace so she can't get to it as easily. Not that she's moving around or pulling up yet.

  • We just pull DS away when he gets close and send him in the other direction.  We generally don't leave him out of sight so it is working well right now.
  • I think we'll probably get this: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4004229. The cover above looks interesting but I assume you have to remove it if you want to actually use the fireplace.
