Hi All.
I have a way to go yet before birth, but I like to be organized and plan ahead, and really want to have a natural experience. I expect pain, I just want to go through this if I can. Can any of you ladies recomend Bradley or Lamaze. I have read about each, and feel that Lamaze is too complicated and distracting for me to use when i'd be in pain, I like the idea of relaxation, being in tune with things, accepting the pain. What would you recomend?
TIA
Re: Bradley vs. Lamaze
I enjoyed my Bradley classes (and if you choose that route, you have to take them early) - for the techniques learned, the detail about the phases of labor, and the information about interventions & making educated choices.
My DH & I disagree on how it worked in labor. I say all the positions / pain mgmt techniques really did help manage (and sometimes alleviate) the pain. DH says there were so many things to try, it just provided a distraction to the pain....but I think I'd obviously know better than he would. LOL
Thanks all. I feel like I want to go with the Bradley classes... and I'm glad to have some oppinions of those of you who have experience with this, it has made my gut feeling about this stronger and I think I know now what I want to try.
Thanks again. Much appreciated.
Bradley all the way. I am a first time mom, so I have no experience other than DH talking me through some strong contractions so far (he is an excellent coach, BTW).
We didn't take any classes, but we feel prepared just from reading a couple of books. I highly recommend "Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way" by Susan McCutcheon. Very helpful and straightforward.
(Also, every single mother I've talked to who did Lamaze said it did absolutely nothing for them and was a complete waste.)
