L&D Trip

Today I went in for my weekly NST and luckily my mom was in town and went with me.  I have to go into L&D to do this because my Dr. doesn't have the equipment for twins.  I have a good record of it taking no more than 20ish minutes but today was a little different.  First off there was some emergency so I was there for 15 minutes before even getting hooked up.  Then it took at least 20 minutes to find Baby A.  Every time the nurse would find her she would roll away... she wasn't really in the mood I guess.  After laying there hooked up with both babies being tracked for 20 minutes a new nurse came in to tell me that they noticed a few contractions and that my heart rate was way up then she left.  Another 20 minutes went by with no one coming in to keep me posted so my mom went to see if we could leave so I could get lunch before my scheduled appointment with my doctor.  The nurse came in and said that my doctor was on her way to the hospital and would just check me while I was there.  Last week I was 70% 1 cm when they checked today I was 90% 2cm.  I was also having a lot of cramping so they said they were giving me a shot to relax the muscles and that I needed to wait an hour so they could check me again.  Luckily at the end of the hour I had not had much change and was able to leave but it wasn't until then that I found out they gave me the shot to slow my contractions.  Throughout the entire visit I would ask the nurse questions but she gave me little to zero answers so DH is determined from now on to get all of the answers.  Hopefully being back on strict bedrest will help me make it a little further!  Fingers crossed I'm not back there too soon!

  • I am sorry that you received such poor nursing care! I am happy to hear that the babies are doing well, hoping you can keep them baking for a few more weeks!

  • I'm sorry you had a long ordeal and that they weren't being forthcoming, but good that they let you go and LO is still cooking.  Let's hope it stays that way!

  • I'm sorry you had to deal with that. I hate when nurses and doctors don't answer my questions directly. Mine are notorious for that. They give me these wishy washy generic answers. It drives me crazy. I try to be assertive and I feel like they just look at me like I have 3 heads.

  • Hope your ute settles down. I'm right there with you on bedrest.

  • The few times they came in I'd ask if I was still having contractions and the nurse would just say, "yea, a few."  So frustrating because I still don't know what they feel like and with twins my stomach is always TIGHT lol!  Hopefully with DH there next time we will get better answers or at least be able to ask a different nurse.  Because there was some emergency right before I got there the entire staff was MIA!
