I am currently about 9 weeks along. When I went to the doctor last week for my US she dated me at 8w3d with a EDD of 11/12/11. My lmp was 1/28/11 with a 31 day cycle. I kept track of my ovulation with opks and temping and I know did not ovulate or have sex any later than 2/16 which would give me a edd of 11/9 but according to my dr my dates must be off or according to me my baby is measuring smaller. Anyone else in this situation? Should I be worried? Thanks...
Re: EDD off or measuring behind?
Ultrasounds are as accurate as they 'can' be which means there is room for error.
For instance... at my ultrasounds they always measure everything 3 times and take the average. Additionally all 'datings' have +/- 5 following them --- so give or take 5 days for all measurements. My doctor will only move someone's due date if they are measuring a full week off from a previous EDD... so 7 days or more.
From what you are saying your measurements totally fit within the 5 day threshold.
I wasn't charting or anything, but I'm pretty regular.
I went in for my 7 week appt, and they said I was 4 days behind measuring 6w3d. I went in 2 weeks later and LO caught up, base don the previous appt I should have been 8w2d, but 8w6d.
The u/s isn't that exact this early on and your dates will move around. Also, there are times spans during conception, ie sperm can live up to 5 days; implantation can happen in a window of a few days. So our bodies aren't exact either, even if we are charting and "in tune".
I don't think you should be worried one bit.

I was at the ER on Sunday and they changed my date by 3 days after an ultrasound. They moved my date back, otherwise I would have protested.
With my DS, they moved my date 10 days up (original date 9/4, moved to 8/24) and when I was two weeks "overdue" they insisted I be induced, even though in reality I was only 4 days overdue by my count (and I had been charting, so I was sure, too).
Since it's only a few days off and it's moved back, I wouldn't think it'd be a problem.
I know within 2-3 of when I ovulated (opks, timing, etc). When I went in for my first ultrasound they put me 4 days behind the date that the calendar gave me...because it goes by lmp, not ovulation. So the measurement they gave me is actually closer to correct than the est. due date in the beginning.
I wouldn't worry too much about it-it hasn't even crossed my mind since my appt. I go back this Thursday for another sono (I'm high risk), and I'm looking forward to see if the measurements are consistent, or if they are still fluctuating.
With my first LO, we got conflicting due dates as well. My doctor told me then (nearly 5 years ago) that unless it was a week or more off, they weren't going to change my EDD. My DD was born healthy 2 weeks early (and weighed 8 pounds)! I wouldn't make any judgements on if your baby is measuring smaller just yet. Only time will tell, and the more of it that passes, the better for you and baby.
**Turns out I was 7w9d so she moved my due date back.**
Meant 7w4d...sorry.
