As I sit here just having paid a ridiculous amount of money on baby socks, I'm wondering on what other non-essential item are other people willing to spend more. I spend lots on socks because the kind that actually stay on C's feet cost more and since we live where it seems to always be cold socks are important. So let's hear it. On what silly thing do you spend more?
By the way, I don't mean car seats or anything like that since we've already had that debate.
Re: On what non-essential baby item do you spend a lot?
This. Plus clothes for holidays.....
Born 7lb, 15oz, 21-1/4, 2 mo - 12lbs, 14oz. 25", 3mo - 14lb, 4oz 26in , 4 mo - 16lb, 1oz, 26 3/4 in, 5 mo 18 lb, 4oz 27-3/4 in, 6 mo 28 3/4 in 19lb, 14oz
We're the same way. We have very few toys for him and the ones we do have we either got as shower gifts or from Christmas. For clothes, we have a lot but my sister gave us a ton from her son and the rest are often bought for us. For me, it is really just socks.
We have the BOB too but that is definitely essential in our house as well, especially for navigating the terrible Chicago sidewalks.
Definitely clothes. The thing is, it's not just me... my best friend and my fiance's mother are both out of control as well.
I'm hoping with a boy I won't spend as much!

Crazy about Christmas? Check out our blog!
My good, old, rarely-updated toddler food blog
Clothes and baby food.
I get the Plum Organics baby food. She really likes it, and while I used to make my own, it just got to be taking too much time away from DD to keep doing it. With a 60 hr work-week, I guard my off time viciously!
As far as clothes go, I buy them from Once Upon A Child, Kohls, Totsy or Zulily. I don't pay full MSRP price. I get coupons, sales, and such. That's the only way I can justify it to myself and my DH! LOL
Same here. I totally pay for convenience. I also use all CA Baby bath products on him not because he has known skin issues, but because I like the way they smell.
Socks and hair bows.
Then it seems like I've gone a little overboard with the stocking stuffers and easter basket fillers....oh well:)

You definitely should come in for a run! Now that the weather is nice we've been taking full advantage. We live over in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area but a run to the lake and then back is the perfect distance!
Discovery Toys. They are just so well thought out and made!
I mean the stacking cups are volume specific (the 4 and 3 together fill the 7) and we use them for playdough and bath time, and banging etc. Her older brother still plays with them.
I have a secret list of what DS is getting DT-wise for Christmas etc...
It was definitely socks in the beginning.
But not anything right now. I buy gerber baby food, on sale and make my own. I buy clothes from consignment sales. I don't buy a lot of toys, in fact he probably needs a few more advanced toys.
If J was a girl, it would be shoes.
