Got him fitted for his Sure Steps ankle braces at the orthotist this morning (which he did NOT appreciate, lots of feet measurements) though his will be coming in camo, which we thought was pretty bad ass.
He needs lace up sneakers with a round toe box to wear with them at all times, so that means no sandals this summer unfortunately. Anyone know where I can find some for a toddler? No typical sneakers with the tread coming up over the toes.

Yeah perhaps. I'll check those out. They kept saying "skateboard style" shoes and I realized tonight I have no idea what that means.

yeah.... those are definitely not skate board style! sorry!
Vans or slip-on Keds sound like the type they mean.

Converse??? They sell these at Target
I don't know if this link will work

Would any of these work?
I mean, the kid can't only have one pair of shoes, right??
Those are adorable, unfortunately I think that might be what it means to have the tread come up over the toe.
Great minds!
Yeah and the doctor said they want something more like a Vans shoe I guess with a sturdier material at the tongue of the shoe, not fabric like these.

Oh my gah, oh my gah, these ROCK. They're Vans, which the Sure Steps website actually recommends:

Cool. Thanks, I am going with the Vans I think. Such cute styles and not awfully expensive.
You said you noticed a pretty immediate and marked difference in your son's walking/stability with these, no?

those are adorable!!
Ooooh those are cute!
WOOHOO
Ditto- wait until you can take the braces shoeshopping.
Immediate as in within minutes of them being on his feet. Can't wait to hear how he does. We're on pair #3 - we call them his truck shoes
Skate shoes maybe? Try Etnies or DC's.
Just read the comments and obviously i'm a little late. But try TJ Max or Ross or those type of stores. We have found skate shoes there for DS for pretty cheap.
This makes me SO excited.

My daughter had these too. It was what the physitrist recommended.
